Andrew of Mays Landing NJ (02/24/06) When I was relocated by my employer, they contracted with Certified Auto Relocation (a brokering transportation company) for my car, a 2003 BMW 530i with 21k miles. Immediately prior to the scheduled pick-up I had the car serviced and checked at the BMW dealership in my state. The car was picked up as scheduled (during a snow storm). When the vehicle did not show up as promised, they contacted me - very friendly and told me I could rent a car at their expense. I did not take them up on it as I had alternate transportation. When it did show up, the battery was completely dead (never happened prior). It took an hour to jump it as it was completely dead. They did that to mask the fact that they burned up the clutch in the car. This was discovered immediately upon jumping the car. I contacted the carrier immediately to tell them of the damage. The car was then towed by BMW Roadside to a dealer, where the clutch was replaced. They informed me that the clutch was burnt and the self adjuster was melted. This is not a by-product of normal use. It is typical of abuse. The car only had 1 mile difference on it from pick-up to delivery. So they either burnt it by trying to move it with the emergency brake on it, or abused the car and backed the miles off of it as described by BMW CCA who I have contacted for advice. When presented with the bill for the repairs, this company refused to pay for them. They claim no responsiblity. The car worked on pick-up and did not upon delivery.
