I parked my 2000 323i 105k miles this morning in the parking garage and I tried to adjust my car by putting it into reverse. And to my surprise the reverse doesnt work anymore. I called the dealership today and I was quoted a fee of ~4500 for repair. This is insane, I think Ive had this problem all along and no one really ever took the time at the dealership to investigate properly. I am very disheartened about the whole situation because I am now waiting to get my car towed home. The BMW manufacturers should have recalled this vehicle model several years ago. This is been a problem with all the 2000 models and I am outraged by the reponse of BMW. Why the hell would you pay the premium price for BMW when they are using cheap GM tranmsissions. I would rather call them the ULTIMATE FAILING MACHINE. We need a class action law suit or some kind os a legal actions taken against BMW NA. If there is something already in process please let me know. Thanx

I recently bought a 2001 330ci w/ 99k miles, the first day I experienced the reverse problem. I bought it so cheap 8000 I figured whatever. Well now the AAMCO guy says it's 3800. The story goes like this; I first get a quote from a BMW only shop and they say I've got xmission problems and it'll cost 4600. They also said..don't go to AAMCO because it'll just be back in here to be fixed later. Well I went to AAMCO and they said they'd drive it long enough for the problem to occur (my problem showed up when the car had been driven for awhile and heated up). They sent my car home with one of the mechanics because he lived 25 miles away. The problem showed up and they had to tow it back. Then they call and say they're going to have to go in and diagnose (min. cost 1300). Well now I'm kindof stuck with a car that isn't working. So I tell them to go ahead. The next phone call it's the xmission pump leaked and got water in the xmission, blah blah.. all these things have to be replaced costing me 3800
