While having my car serviced at Puente Hills Nissan, a car salesman (Mr Collings) approached me and tried to sell me a car. After he realized that I was not going to buy a car, he asked me to wait a moment and he would be right back. I realized that there was no reason for me to wait because I was not going to buy a car, so proceeded to leave. Just as I was leaving, I was approached by Mr. Collins again, who was accompanied by another gentleman who he introduced as his supervisor, George Ojeda. Mr. Ojeda proceeded to try and sell me a car. After convincing him that i was not going to buy a car at that time, and as I started to walk away, Mr. Ojeda handed me a document and said that it was the registration for my car. He stated that he went into my car and took it out of the glove compartment. I looked at the document and indeed it was the registration for my car. I was shocked and became angry that he would do this without my knowledge. I told him that he had no business going into my car and taking my personal property without my permission. When I asked him the reason why he took my registration out of my car, he stated that he wanted to see if the vin number matched.
I was amazed that he knew which vehicle was mine in the first place, and puzzled over the reason he gave for taking it out of my car. This act was totally unprofessional, unethical, an invasion of my privacy and totally wrong. He violated my rights and in my opinion, broke the law. This incident has in a way humiliated and belittled me that they can just ignore the fact that this was my car (bought and paid for) and that I am a person, not some thing that you can just treat any way just to make a few dollars. I believe that If I had been a man, he never would have entered my car in the first place. I am still angry and hurt that he invaded my privacy and took my personal property without my permission. I would like some kind of resolution for what was done to me.
I was humiliated, hurt, belittled and very upset. I was so angry that I really shouldn't have not been driving on the freeway afterwards. That was all I could think about while driving home. I have lost my trust in Puente Hills Nissan fully. I feel that I was taken advantage off: being a woman, alone and black. That's three strikes against me and in their favor to do what ever they please.
