Fairfax Hyundai
Fairfax, VA

When I first received my license in 1997 I was very proud of myself and was instantly in search of my own enexpensive, reliable, and efficient car.

I had searched far and over and somehow ended up at FAIRFAX HYUNDAI.  My fanily insisted these were the guys I wanted to do business with. My first attempt to find a car with them was unsucessful.

I left the lot in tears because of the haggling they were doing..the prices were too high for me, a single mom, employee, and college student. My second trip was the hook, line and sinker they needed. With my thousand dollars in hand and his arm wrapped tightly around my shoulders, the salesman informed me that he would "special order" a car.

I was elated.  A week later on a dark and stormy night I saw the car of my dreams. It was me!. The old guy that was with me kicked the tire, looked under the hood and said, "It's all good".

So I test drove it and all seemed well

I entered the Finance office only to hear the APR would be 22% on a $5,500 car. What did I know?  I gladly accepted.

To make a longer story short, the engine blew a few days before the warranty ran out, I face constant repairs monthly. On top of that they expect me to pay full coverage insurance, and $219 monthly that only pays the APR off, not a dime (of the princiapl) has been offically paid yet and I am out almost $5,000.

I pay every dime I make on this car, I have dealer and Mechanic Phobia. I am severely depressed over this since I am unable to save money to go back to college.

I have called them previous times on thsi issue and feel as though I am truly ignored..

This is a very unfortunate story that is repeated everyday. The interest rate is indeed high, the car is no Mercedes and probably wasn't in great shape to start with.   It might be possible to refinance and it would certainly be worth a try.

Hint: You don't have to take your car to the dealer for service.   An independent mechanic will usually be cheaper (often a lot cheaper) and frequently more competent.  Shop around.
