Byron of Knoxville TN (04/10/09) Don't use. They are crooks. I only use them for oil changes and tire rotation because I purchased tires there and it is part of the warranty. They cannot be not trusted for anything else. 4 times they have tried to sell my wife and I brakes, gas filters, serpentine belts etc that were not needed. I put brakes on her car, went to the center the next week and was told it needed brakes.
I went back again at next oil change and was told the same thing. Next oil change they tried it again. Wednesay I put brakes and a gas filter on my expedition and had it checked out by my local auto garage. Thursday I went for an oil change and they again pulled the same junk, tried to sell brakes, gas filter and a serpentine belt. I refused all and contacted my mechanic he verfied the serpentine belt did not need to be changed. Everytime this happens I call them on it and its the same story, oh well we changed management and this wont happen again or oh, we read the measurement wrong. This store should be closed by the BBB. Maria of Weston, FL April 7, 2009
Maria of Weston FL (04/07/09) On Saturday morning March 28th I called the store and spoke to a man by the name of Wayne I asked if he could get me 3 tires because one was fairly new, he said he would check and call me back. He called and said he could. I told him great and I would be in. I dropped off the car and he told me he would call me when it was done, fine. I returned to the store around 5 pm and waited about 30 minutes. It was done and I proceeded to the counter with a family member (male), which was lending me the money and helping during this difficult time for me. As we proceeded to pay, Wayne replied Wow, how nice it must be for someone to buy me tires, and I wish someone would buy me tires. I never in my life felt so bad, and it was hard enough for me to except the help of others. I felt his comment in front of myself and several other people present in the store was completely uncalled for, he does not know me are my present situation.
Wayne also told me if I was to ever get a flat Firestone would take care of it, not knowing I was being charged for the service. I did question him regarding the fee and he then told me that is part of the service. I did not ask for this, so he returned the money for that service. He was short for one tire I noticed as I was almost home. I called him and asked if he could just put the credit back on the card. I noticed his attitude, (we paid some cash and the rest on a credit card) he said well you wanted the cash before (in which it did not matter if the cash or a credit was issued back). I told him never mind I would come in later to get the credit.
On Thursday April the 2nd, I stopped in and Wayne asked for the receipt, I gave him the receipt and he said no, I need the other one (that shows a partial credit) and said he could not give me the credit without. Ok, I'll get that for you and I will come back. I told Wayne I needed him to reset the computer on my maitenance button, to update the tires and the oil change that had been done. Wayne told me he didn't know what I was talking about, I again told him about the reset button, and I told him that I have purchased my first set of tires (same car) with firestone and they knew what and how to do that, he still said he didn't know and said show me. In which I did, his reply we don't do that and I told him firestone has always taken care of that.
So then Wayne said well, thats going to take a long time and I need to bring my car back. I left, trying to figure out when I can get back there. I went home and called another Firestone location and they told me it is no problem and will take only a minute to redet my computer. Friday April the 3rd, I went back and told him the way he had treated me and that he should not talk or judge anyone when he doesn't know or has no right to say what he did and act the way he did. Needlees to say, my computer was reset in 1 minute and he gave me the balance. I or anyone else should ever have been treated this way. Yes, I was very embarrased and his reply it was a joke.
Keith of West Springfield, MA March 23, 2009
Keith of West Springfield MA (03/23/09) On 3/18/09 I had my car towed in after running hot on the MA Turnpike. Firestone was very quick to claim no engines problems that they could tell, but they said they were afraid to road test because of casuing more damage to motor. they tested engine at garage and found no leaks and then thought that problem was caused by the water pump. I authorized replacement of water pump, thermstat, etc. I picked up car that eve. Aprox. cost 573.00. Once payed and behind the wheel, I started car and an loud noise coming from the water pump area. I requested the tech take a drive with me.
As soon as I started car the tech could hear the noise. we drove car and recieved a check engine light. The car was then hooked up to the computer and the error was a misfire on cylinder #1. They check they plugs and reset computer. I left car with them over night. this was around 10pm on the 21st. The next day I was told the noise was coming from the belt tensioner. so I said replace it. Aprox 190. Then payed to pick up car. They promised I was all set.
got in car there was a low noise, not very loud , but consistant with the previous noise i complained about. I took back the next moring and had the tech go for a drive with me, and the noise briefly went away. Then while he was trouble shooting at garage, the noise came back loud as ever. so he then said the problem was the fan belt. another 100.38 Now the problem is , a noise in the area of work and they claimed it was a belt tensioner, I payed to have replaced. the noise is still there and now I had to pay to replace the fan belt to finally get rid of noise. Seems to me that the noise was the belt intially.
after replacing belt the noise went away. and the mech said they should have replaced the belt anyway. Regardless, they did all this work only to tell me.... that I had a blown head gasket. My car is showing 251,000 miles, but I have had a rebuilt trans & Motor. in car. Motor was replaced at 190000. I just feels like they took advantage of me for almost 900, and now faced with having to get another commuting car.
Out seroius cash and still no reliable wheels to get me to work. I commute 190 miles a day. this has been very stressfull. Les of Chester, IL February 27, 2009
Les of Chester IL (02/27/09) On January 16,2009 I purchased 4 new tires.082017 Pathmaker A/T P-Metric Owl P265/75R16. Before making the purchase I talked it over with my wife and told her that I was told it was covered from a-z warranty if anything happened to the tire it would be covered.Over 450.00 in tires. Then On February 25,2009 I somehow picked up a nail and ended up with a flat and took the tire back and wasnt told I didnt have their so-called Road Hazard and nothing was said that I was going to have to pay 27.45 to have the tire fixed. When I could have had it fixed right for 10.00.
Then I was informed I could buy their ROAD HAZARD for 55.00. I was also told I needed to read all that I sign and the sales person told me it would cost me money to have it fixed and nothing was said, because if that would have been the case I would have taken it back to my car and went home aqnd gave the business to a local garage and paid 10.00 and it would have been done correctly .
When my wife went in to discuss this with the manager he threaten to call the police on her. Then said he didnt want to hear anything she had to say. She never raised her voice at him nor was she rude or violent towards him.His name was Jeff we are assuming from the paper work we have. I agree very much that this Firestone is very shady as well. My wife said if she would have know this is where I was going to buy my tires she wouldnt have let me because over 25 yrs ago her father had had problems with this same place.
They DO NOT DISCLOSE EVERYTHING THEY SHOULD ABOUT THEIR WARRANTIES.THEY LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE YOUR TIRES ARE COVERED!Hopefully all who have had problems will be reimburst for all problems. All who live in the bi-state area in MO/IL beware.
Eolo of Des Moines, IA February 25, 2009
Eolo of Des Moines IA (02/25/09) I went into Firestone and told the man brhind the counter that my wife's car has to be started by jumper cables and that this has to be done almost everytime she starts the car. They checked the battery and said it was good. They showed me a spark plug wire that was a little torn and said this could be the problem, i said if you think it is go ahead and fix it. Well the bill was 294.39. my wife drove the car home a couple of hours later tried to start the car it would not start, we drove the car to Auto Zone where we bought the battery, they checked the battery IT WAS NO GOOD, they installed a new battery the car starts fine now.
The point is Firestone charged me for a tune up....remove and replace plugs 51.60. remove and replace spark plug wire set 77.40. Tailor res wires 55.46. Electrical system test labor 25.99. ever-wear fuel system tune up 59.99 THIS CAR IS ONLY A 4 CYLINDER. And here is a charge for shop supplies 10.20. why do I pay for their shop supplies ? TOTAL PARTS 98.12 TOTAL LABOR 169.98....A towing service and Auto Zone checked my battery and said it was no good, only Firestone said it was good. Thank You
