Joe of Kingwood TX (11/07/08) Took 99 Suburban in for A/C service was charged 39.99 plus 79.99 for them to check the system and do diagnostics. Said my system was shot and required new everything. Bill was nearly 2,000 by the time they fixed it. Immediately noticed that fan would not work on HIGH and blower was rattling badly. Took it back in after trip and was told that my switch was bad and that it would cost an additional 500 plus.
I mentioned that I had paid their fee for diagnostic on system and was told that we only check the system outside...not the interior switches. Switch was working fine before their superior service. As if the interior switch had nothing to do with running the system....is this a seperate system? I don't think so!
Told them they were pirates and that if I didn't get satisfaction, I would take it to Firestone Central offices and report to both consumer affairs and BBB. The store manager looked at me with deer in headlights look and gave me another manager's business card. No response to date.
Besides costing us (in comparison to other companies we checked) a disproportionately higher price (700 by some estimates) and besides the time, energy and efforts, they're problem of somehow breaking the blower, I'm considering having my credit card co. take them to task on this. Joseph of Ridgefield, CT November 3, 2008
Joseph of Ridgefield CT (11/03/08) Latest problem. There have been multiple on three different vehicles. 2000 Dodge Intrepid. Oil light came on when stopping. Firestone replaced oil switch with light and put in synthetic blend oil. Problem continued. Checked with Dodge dealer for any tech bulletin. They immediately stated problem with 200 Intrepids and one should use regular oil and that will eliminate problem. Firestone refused to make any adjustment.
Monies expended for a repair not required. David of Laporte, TX October 26, 2008
David of Laporte TX (10/26/08) Here is a complaint I filed with Firestone.

First I think you guys really overcharged me my marking up the brake rotors by nearly 60.00 apiece.( 94.99, when I could have bought the same item at Autozone for 36.99 each)
I understand you need to make a profit, but this is really unreasonable.
I'll have to take your word that the rotors were un-salvagable, since no one bothered to show me the old ones.
Please understand it is very difficult to return as a customer when I am left with the belief that I got taken.
Their 139.99 brake job turned into 355.79. Emptied my bank account, now I am penniless until pay day-over 1 week away, have to basically beg for gas money to get to work.
My lesson has been learned. H. of Las Vegas, NV October 14, 2008
H. of Las Vegas NV (10/14/08) Leo called me and was very insistent to the point of being rude that they did a good job. I have it in writing that I agreed to letting them keep the car to locate the problems. He is trying to say I wouldn't let them keep the car. When I told him Cadillac found the reason for the batteries burning out in a day, his answer was Well it never did it when we had the car so how would we know? My answer was: How did Cadillac find the problem and why didn't you check after three batteries burned out in a 2-3 week time.....At this point I could see we were getting nowhere so I said Good Bye. My main complaint now is how rude he was & offering stupid answers just to defend their work.
After Cadillac had it everything is working fine. They showed me and explained why the batteries were burning out and why the car was jerking & how they remedied these two items. They test drove the car and discoverd the brake linings were worn & needed replacing. I now have a safe car to drive at 1/3 the cost of what I have paid out to Ted Weins/Firestone Ashleigh of Charlotte, NC October 14, 2008
Ashleigh of Charlotte NC (10/14/08) I took my car to Firestone thinking it would be a reliable place to get some things fixed with my car. I bought 4 new tires and I told the man who took the car that I heard a funny noise coming from the car and it might be a belt, could he please check this for me. He forgot to check the first time I asked him so I had to tell him again, then he came back with there is nothing wrong with the car. I told him there was because I hear it so he said he would tighten all the belts.
The next day I ended up on the side of the road because my car broke down. I had to walk three miles to the nearest phone to call aaa. I had the car towed back to the firestone and they said that it would cost over a thousand dollars to fix my car but if I didnt want to do that they could donate it for me! Of coures I didnt donate my car so I had it towed back to another dealership and called firestone corporate office. They sent someone out to look at the car and came back with the water pump was bad and thats what caused the engine to overheat. If thats the case why didnt firestone tell me that before I ended up on the side of the road and why was my belt broken.
I think that they tightened my belt too tight which caused it to break and then my engine to overheat! I am a single mother and have no one to help me on this situation. I know nothing about cars but I do know if the water pressure pump was bad I'm sure it would have shown signs before they messed with my car.
I was quoted 1,145.83 to get everything fixed with my car. Kathleen of Hollywood, FL September 29, 2008
