Kathleen of Hollywood FL (09/29/08) I had a flat tire & had to use fix a flat to get to Firestone for the repair - I had good service however - I was certain I had tire protection for my existing tires. I ended up purchasing 2 new tires . The representitive told me I negated my plan due to using the fix a flat. Can you help?
Apparently there was a screw in one of my tires which created the flat tire. Jeffrey of Austintown, OH September 8, 2008
Jeffrey of Austintown OH (09/08/08) On 10/22/08 I took my ford windstar into the firestone service center in boardman oh.The front right boot was blown and the half shaft needed replaced. I was expecting a bill of 360.00, and the total turned out to be 1,227.00. And even that I didnt have a big complaint about. That is not the biggest problem that I have encounted to date.
Since leaving the service center, the ABS light light has not turned off. The speedometer needle bounces around while driving, the brake light randomly comes on and the drivers side window malfunctions. After contacting the center to inquire about all these new issues, I was told that it would be another 89.00 for a ABS diagnostic test. I called consumer affairs and they arranged for the test to be done without any additional charge to me.
The appointment was made 9am this morning, upon which the van was not even moved into the shop until 10:30, and the work was not completed until 1pm. At that point I was told that the Abs sensor was bad, and they wanted over 100.00 to replace it. I chose to replace it myself which is a five minute job and 35.00. It was not a surprise to find out this did not fix the problem, but yet it seemed like another attempt to get more money from us.
They also recommended that it be takin to a dealership. I am extremely disappointed in the service that Firestone has taken on this issue. I truly believe that we were scammed, by these incidental problems that just happen to go wrong immediatly after having my vehicle in their care. I will not bring another vehicle to any Firestone service center, nor will I ever recommend one. I will also under protest never buy a product bearing the Firestone name. This is exactly what the American people do not deserve in these trying times, tight bugets and struggling economy. Thanks for nothing Firestone.
I do not consider the van as safe for my children. It will cost me a considerable amount of money to take it somewhere else. I dont have anymore to give. The vehicle is dropped in value. The overdrive doesnt work any longer either Jay of Lake Forest, CA September 2, 2008
Jay of Lake Forest CA (09/02/08) I needed a new Mass Air Flow Sensor. I didn't know that Firestone had to have another company deliver the part because Firestone did not have the part in stock. After I had the work completed and went home I went on line to check what the sensor would have cost if I purchased it. Firestone marked up the part for my car 400% If I purchased the part it would have cost me 139.00. Firestone pays a lot less. I was told at Firestone that the part would cost me 409.00. I to the clerk at Firestone to put in a remanufactured sensor which still cost me 279.00 plus 100.00 to analize the problem which most repair shops don't charge you if they do the repair. I was also charged 30.00 for installation which took exactly 10 seconds. Be you have your care repaired check and see how much the parts cost if you buy them verses what the repair shop is charging you.
Louis of Kansas City, MO August 31, 2008
Louis of Kansas City MO (08/31/08) On 8/31/08 my mother-in-law called me because her car was overheating in Kansas City, Kansas. We decided to take it to firestone. When we arrived only Wayne was at the desk. HE was very polite and professional. I didnt like what he had to tell me because he told me that only his service manager(who was off duty) could give me an estimate for the repair. But we were nearing the end of our conversation without any aggression by either of us.
After about a 5 minute conversation with Wayne, Charles came in from the shop. Without introducing himself to me or even greeting me he immediately jumped into the conversation and said, give the guy a break, he said he cant help you, speaking of Wayne. This took me by suprise. I began to discuss why i couldnt get an estimate with Charles, and he continued to respond with shallow, insulting remarks. He even, near the end of our conversation, told me,who cares about your hose. He treated me like a bum on the street who wanted to use the bathroom, not like a potential paying customer. I told him that he must be a manager the way he came and jumped in my conversation with Wayne, yet he denied that even though his business card says otherwise. I can handle the word NO from an employee of a business, but Charles Wilburn tried to make me feel stupid. I can even handle being wrong, but being treated like my dollar isnt as strong as the next person, that was rather insulting. I didnt like my first experience with firestone.
none Tina of Maywood, IL August 26, 2008
Tina of Maywood IL (08/26/08) I took my car to firestone for a tune up. They told me that I had a minor oil leak. Melvin said that if I continue to put oil in it it will be fine. I decided a week later to get it fixed. The job was 1,100.00 dollars. I took it in there on a Friday so that it will be finished in time for me to go to work. Went to pick it up on Saturday was told that the needed a part and it would be finished on Sunday. Went to pick it up on Sunday and my car was shooting metal shavings out of it and it wouldn't stay started. They said it would be fixed Monday and that they would knock off 100.00 dollars. Came for it on Monday and it was smoking and over heating. I had to take off Monday and My Man had to take off Tuesday. Melvin said that it will be finshed Wednesday and it was at no charge plus a 6 month warranty. Went to pick it up Wednesday and no Melvin to assure me that my car was alright and they gave me a outdated receipt, come to find out the transaction, labor and repair of my car is no longer in the system. They have it as a receipt for work that needs to be done to the car. I also have a note from Melvin when I took off work that my car was not safe to drive. and the motor was knocking it was runnning hot. I told them that I was not at all satisfied but this is my only transportation to work. Stated it up to go to work and it sound horrible. So I called them took another day off and spoke to corporate and they claimed that they were going to have a certified mechanic look at it. It had to be towed back to the shop. I had to get a rental car just so that I could go to work. Got it back and it sounded worse and it wasn't no oil in it. How are you fixing a oil leak with no oil in the car and the oil light is coming on.. Somehow they messed up my brakes as well because there was fire coming from my wheels as I was pulling off. Now today August 26th 2008 and my car won't acclerate,it is running hot and the brakes are messed. I spoke to corporate again and stressed that I want my car fixed but not by anyone they know but by a certafied mechanic because there is no oil going to the oil pump and my motor is about to go out. Need help
I have to pay for cabs, rental cars. Worried because I work so far away if I am going to lose my job when my boss gets tired of me not being able to be at work on time everday like I am used to. Diana of Rochester, NY August 19, 2008
