More about Ford ...

John of Graham NC (10/16/07)
My 2002 Ford Explorer with a 4.6L V8 spit out the third Spark Plug on the drivers side. My explorer has about 105K miles on it and I replaced the spark plugs just over a year ago and have since put 23K miles. It is not under warranty and I have not contacted any one at Ford. I was reading similar stories and wanted to make this incident known.

I have 2 trucks, 1 1997 f-150 larait 4x4 with a 4.6 motor. And I have a 1999 f250 larait 4x4 with a v10 motor. Both of them have a popping sound. I've been trying to figure out what is wrong with them. I been reading ford forums on different problems. I went home after work and checked both trucks and they both have plugs that came unthreaded. I can't afford a new head. So I'm going to try a heilcoil insert.

Jeffrey of Flushing MI (10/15/07)
i had purchased a 2002 Ford F250 with 115,000 miles on it the original owner never towed anything so i new the transmission was good. and it seemed in excellent mechanical shape which the dealership assured me it was when they sold it to me as is , within 10 days of ownership i was traveling on the freeway, from the dealership to home . when i heard a pop then it progressively became much worse sounding, i went straight home , and checked my engine. and noticed my coil was dislodged and broken, upon further inspection my spark plug was loose and melted i purchase a new coil and plugs and an insert the ford dealer played dumb and said wow never heard of that problem bring it in for inspection and we can give you parts at cost and waive the inspection fee of 100 well since i no longer trust them, it ook it to well respected mechanic whom has had to install helicoil kits on several of these engines .

Mary of Sebastopol CA (10/11/07)
My Ford F-150 truck came to a sudden, crashing halt while I was driving. I had it towed to the Ford Dealer in Santa Rosa. They told me it would be 2750 to repair a cylinder in which the spark plug had just blown out. They then told me that there was a repair kit that they could install for 850, but that Ford would not authorize or cover the repair. They also would not honor my extended warranty which was 5 weeks out of date (with very low mileage.) I then found out from one of the repair persons that this dealership alone has had over 90 repairs on this engine.

Thomas of Coeymans Hollow NY (10/10/07)
My 2003 Ford F-250 with a 5.4 Triton Engine Blew the spark plug out of the head. I'm told by Ford this is a problem with this engine, but Ford has failed to make good on the thousands of compliants about the same thing. They need to do a recall and stand by their product.
