I have an 02 Expedition just turned 109K. I just made an appointment on Friday to get this taken care of BEFORE it happned to me. They booked me for 10/15. Today driving home I heard a pop. Needless to say I knew what it was. My expedition will be towed tomorrow to the garage.

While driving to a Union Meeting my 1998 Lincoln Navigator w/ the 5.4L made a sound like the exhaust had blown apart; check engine; loss of power; but still driveable. limped it another mile to my meeting, popped the hood and found that gasoline had leaked over the entire back side of the engine. Looked further to find air and fuel ejecting from where the #4 spark plug should have been, and fuel shooting out of the rail from where what ever exploded had launched into it. The ignition pack for that plug was shredded. I had just bought this vehicle 3 weeks prior from a private party, w/ 136,000 miles on it and hadn't made a payment on it yet. Seemed like a good deal at 2,000 under book.

My 1999 f-150 left me stranded when I blew a number six spark plug out of the motor, which is a 5.4 triton V8. After costly repair to get it fixed, it was no longer than two weeks when the engine lost compression in the same valve number six it was due to little or no threads in the aluminum block which is now going to cost me over two thousand dollars to fix. This should be recalled because thousands of people are having this problem because as soon as I told some of my freinds it was amazing how many people they know that have had the same problem.

John of Wentzville, MO October 2, 2007

John of Wentzville MO (10/02/07)
In 2004 my 2001 F350 blew a spark plug at 41,000 miles (just out of warranty). The Ford dealership gladly repaired it for 2500.00 and Ford Motor Company refused to help with the bill because it was out of warranty. Since we were 250 miles from home we had no choice. On 9/28/07 a second plug blew on the same vehicle (now with 70,000 miles) again the local Ford Dealership is not supporting us and it denies that there are any structural defects. We have since learned that the plug can be redrilled for 400 at a non Ford repair shop. Do we have 8 more spark plugs to blow with the possibility of a fire? It seems that after researching our problem there are many other instances occurring that includes fires. We also own a 2004 F450 with a Triton V10, should we be concerned? When we pull a 6 horse trailer with animals valued at over 50,000 each who is going to be liable for injuries or fatalities in the heat of the summer? We have owned Ford trucks for 30 years and find there lack of support to their loyal customers appalling. We tried on multiple instance to get them to do the right thing but they don't.
