Conrad of Lancaster OH (01/30/08) Wife was driving her 2002 Sable. Rear coil spring, driver side, failed and was rubbing tire. She took the car to Ford dealership in Lancaster, Ohio.

Jill of Ontario NY (01/29/08) My 2001 Ford Taurus SES snapped its front passenger side coil while I was turning into a busy major highway. I was with my husband & neighbor & we all heard a giant SNAP. I took it into my local mechanic who advised me that the spring coil & broken & that it was a common problem in the Ford Taurus. My mechanic advised that a protective shield device had been installed on my car or else the tire would have been punctured. He quoted about 570 to replace both springs. I called the dealer & was happy to hear that there was a Recall and that this repair will be covered by Ford. I .

John of Rockfrod IL (01/19/08) The rear suspension coil broke off at its base and gouged out my wife's tire as she was driving. It's unfortunate that Ford never recalled this piece. It would have been nice to know that we were buying a car that could have potentially killed us.

Barb of Schaghticoke NY (01/18/08) I have a 2002 Ford Taurus SES and my rear passenger coil spring broke in 12/2006 (100k)and the front driverside coil spring broke in 12/2007 (mileage 120k). Neither time was it under warranty.

Silvia of North Syracuse NY (01/18/08) 2001 Mercury Sable taken to Goodyear Service Center for NYS Inspection. Informed left rear coil spring is broken. Suggested replacing both rear springs and struts with quick struts for 1167.00. Service Manager informed me this is a very common failure that Ford is very much aware of.
