Nancy of C~anandaigua NY (02/22/09)
I also own a 2002 Ford Taurus. My car has been serviced at this dealership since purchase. It had 43,167 mi. I went for my inspection and learned it would not pass because of the rear springs. This was on 2/9/09. I had the car in for service 12/16/08. I also learned my warranty was 17 days expired. My bill was 632.38. My previous ford was a Tempo this also had a rear problem I believe was a bar of some sort. I have learned my lesson with Ford Motor Co.

I will not make another mistake. I plan on sending all of my invoices, copies of these complaints and the actual parts that were removed from my car to the President of the United States. It does no good to complain to Ford Motor Company. Perhaps this info will be helpful to President Obama and his Committee dealing with the problem with our car industry.

I got in my car in the parking lot to leave work and as I was pulling out of my space, we heard a loud metal grinding noise. We got out to notice that my front passenger tire was totally flat. I called AAA for assistance and the mechanic told me that the strut broke and spring snapped puncturing my tire. The car had to be towed and at the car service center, it was also discovered that my passenger rear strut was also broken.

As a result, we decided to replace all four struts and replace the tire at a cost of about 1,600. Please note that the car had only 47K miles on it.

2002 had a front coil spring fail in the summer of 2008. Fortunately, the car was under an extended service plan and the car was repaired. Later received a notice that Ford has warranted the front springs up to 100K miles.

This past week, the rear coil spring failed. Ford service said rear springs are not covered any warranty and this is a known problem with the 2002 Taurus coil springs. Ford Motor does not appear to want to correct the problem. This places a huge hazard on every motorist on the roads.

While vacationing in CA Feb '09 we were told by a Sears garage that both rear springs on our '97 Ford Escort LX wagon were broken. We then checked for 'parts' on the web and discovered on your site that this has been a posted problem on a lot of Ford Taurus models and a few Escorts.

No damage done at this point and everything is secure except for some clunking but I will check with a Ford garage and see what they have to say! (If there are any still in operation.)
