Goodyear Responds

Ashley of Covina, CA August 28, 2009

On August 26 I took my nissan in to get an oil change and get my tires rotated. Everytime I come to this Goodyear they always try to get more money out of me, saying I need this and that, when I really didn't need to. So when I went in this time, they told me that I needed new tires because the front wheels were going bald. I told them just to rotate them to the back because my lease on the car is up soon so I was going to turn them in soon. He still re-ordered the tires that I needed for my car, but I didn't think anything of it. I leave, go to school, and come back home. Everything is ok. On Thursday, I get ready to go to class and my back tire is all of sudden really flat. It was soo flat I couldn't drive even try it back to dealership. I had a feeling that they did something fishy with my car, so I had my dad replace it with my spare tire, and sure enough, there was a hexagon screw in my tire. Although I cannot prove they did it, I truly feel that they placed that screw inside my car, and they placed it in there so that my tire would go out slowly. And why would he still order the tire I needed for my car when I told him I didn't need it. I'm going to report this to the Bureau of Auto Repair and I am definitely never going there again.

chris of placerville, CA August 26, 2009

I was an employee of Good Year corp.I had been transfered to a Good Year in Shingle Springs CA. I was set up by the store manager to be fired due to a Bureau Of Aut Repair violation. I was mistreated and yelled at and discriminated against by the store manager and other service manager while I was employed there. We have a list of policies and procedures to follow and the management mentioned above was not following them.

I reported the misconduct to my District Manager and had asked for a transfer due to the mistreatment of myself. I was told there was no other place to go. I was acused about a month later of trying to sell ball joints to a guest for his four wheel drive Dodge dually. The guest was not happy and went to two other shops in the Placerville area and was told he did not need ball joints. I was informed via e mail intercept that there wasa BAR complaint bing filed against me by a guest that the store manager was friends with. I e ailed the District Manager regarding this and was ignored. I was called into the managers office and was told by Larry that i was probably going to be fired for the complaint. I took some time off and went to look for another job. I requested to defend myself by having the guest bring his vehicle in to the Good Year and I would show him the worn ball joints,I was denied.

While on leave for a week the guest was called in to re check the recomended repairs and had the BAR reprasentative Brian Cole, District Manager John Macaluso, Larry Wilson, manager and a tech from another Good Year present and re inspected the vehicle and found I was correct in my findings.Upon returning I walked in and informed the Manager I was no longer wishing to stay employed at that facility. I was told ok and also about the findings. I had been previously mistreated by the Manager in a constant beligerent manner for 6 months on a day to day basis and was denied my sick pay for going home early on one ocasion although I was clearly ill. I was denied my vacation time I had put on the calander until a couple of days before the date.

The other service Manager was aloud to take vacation on any day or week. I was constsntly harrased by Larry in front of guests and sworn at in front of guests. There had been several violations of company policies and procedures involving wheel offs and incorrect repairs and also turning down a guests request to have his tires replaced for free due to premature wear, these were Dunlop Direzza DZ101 wore out in less then 10,000 miles I was told by the Store Manager that I was not to replace his tires. This also turned into a Bar complaint as well. There was documentation showing failure of brake systems and the guest was informed that all was ok by the other Service Manager. The guest returned about a week later with catastrophic brake failure in the rear shoes metal to metal and complete hydraulic system failure. I have copies of these documents to prove the actions above mentioned and sign off by the techs involved and Service Manager. I am a master tech with 30 plus years in the industry and a level 3 Chrysler Dodge tech

Stay away from these scam artist. Had them do a FREE Brake check. They came back saying i need both axle replace since the Boots were worn. Got an estimate of 580.

Went to another shop & watch him take off the axle only to find. Yes one side is bad BUT the other side was slice horizontal across 1 and 1/4 times. Even the mechanic said that someone cut it. Grease on the bears were fresh with no dirt. I'm reporting this shop to The Bureau of Auto Repair for this CRIME.

Larry of Elm Grove, WI August 6, 2009

On August 1st, 2009 I took my BMW for an oil change at the Brookfield Goodyear Service Center where I have been taking my car, my wife’s car and my daughters car for the past couple of years only to find that my complaint and their service is similar to the other complaints I have read. I went to have my oil (synthetic) change and left with my center hubcap loose enough to be lost on my way home. When the missing cap was noticed my wife called up to the center and spoke to the manager on duty. He reported that they secured the cap…in other words, tough luck. I called after hearing this and the same manager said he told my wife that they would replace the cap (lie #1). I went to the center the next day with the part number and description and they said they would order it (lie #2). I waited a week and when I went back they didn’t have the cap ordered and said they tried to contact me (lie #3). At that point they wanted to take another of my center hubcaps to use as a comparison. Now after all these lies and the lack of competent service from the start I laughed and told the “technician” not to take off my cap and for him to tell the service manager they lost a customer. I have not heard a word from Goodyear since and I spent the 54 to replace the cap. I went for an oil change and lost a center hubcap. Now I wonder what else was a lie that day.

Daniel of Anaheim, CA June 18, 2009

My wife brought her 2009 Prius into these jokers because they had a special, change oil, filter, rotate, and balance 2 tires for 25.99. They told her she needed TWO air filters, one was the cabin filter. Because she knows nothing about cars, she said OK to replace. When I found out she was charged 65 for a cabin filter on a car with only 10,000 miles I was FURIOUS.

I went there and demanded to see the original filter. The tech rummaged through the dumpster and produced all the air filters (and over HALF were like new). They found the air filter that was removed and it was clean as new. Hold it up to the light and the light shines through everywhere. Only damage was a few smudges from being in the dumpster. I told him this filter was like new and didn't need replacing. John's voice started to crack and he asked if I wanted a refund. I said "I sure do". This is FRAUD. So he refunded the 65 and agreed to re-install an OEM filter.

I purchased, Threadlife Warranty Claims for my 3 tires, but once a tire need to be replaced after driving, they handed me a bill for 122.00 expecting me to pay that with a smile..... The warranties there mean nothing....... Buyer beware!

Desiree of Davenport, FL May 17, 2009

I took my SUV in for a break check and an alignment. It took them an hour to look over the car and call me to let me know that I needed rear break pad and rotors and that I would also need a break fluid change. After finding out that It was going to cost me about 600 with the alignment I went ahead and authorized for them to do so because it was something I needed. In the mean while my husband and I along with our 4 children ranging from 5 months in age to 6 years old, the oldest being special needs, we continued to shop in the plaza behind the Good Year shop. After two hours had passed, a total of three hours since they had the car, we went back over to see if they were getting close to being done.

I asked the sales manager and he said about 30-45 min's. I thought that's fine we can wait to go and get something to eat if its only going to be that long. The kids started getting anxious after a while as we took them out of the waiting area trying to not disturb any other waiting guests even though it was 90 degrees outside, no over exaggeration.

An hour passed and I approached the sales manager again to find out what was going on at that point the service manager came in and told me that they were having problems with a rotor and that he was putting it all back together right now and we should be leaving. Another 20 min's passed and all we saw was our SUV going up and down on the lift and going for another test drive. They continued to check the vehicle over and over when I started to question if they even had any clue what they were doing. I then asked the sales manager again how long. I told him my kids were starving please let us know if it's going to be longer so I can get them something to eat if it is. He came back and let me know yes it's going to be a while longer we may have to order another rotor. We decided to walk to a near by restaurant and eat something.

When we came back the car was still being looked at and not fixed yet. By this time the store was closing and they told us that they put our old rotor on the wheel and that it wasn't making any sound but we had to come back tomorrow to get another one that they were unable to get a new part today. When I went to pay I was charged for the part that is not on my car yet which shocked me enough. I then go to get in my car and notice there is grease all over the inside of the driver door. The test drove my car for a total of 9 miles which I think is absolutely ridiculous.

They said by putting the old rotor on there was no sound, well when I stopped the car at the first stop sign it sounds just like it did when I brought it in and still is not breaking well. When I got on the highway to come home I let my hands off the wheel to test the alignment and I instantly was crossing over three lanes of traffic. Not only did I spend 6 hours waiting for my car but at the end of the day my car wasn't even fixed... at all! I am now expected to go back to the store tomorrow to get the part put back on though they have not even shown that they have the competence to fix anything that I asked in the first place.

Todd of Soquel, CA April 26, 2009

In 2006, my wife leased a new VW Beattle from a dealership in Santa Cruz County, California. The car came with a set of new Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires. My wife coummutes 40 miles round trip five to six days a week to work. The car has approximately 60K in miles on it. The tires have not been mistreated- surface streets and freeway use only.

On 4-25-09, my wife drove to work and parked in a public use garage and spent eight hours working. When she returned to the car the driver side front tire was flat. A tow service was called and they put on the spare tire. It was at that time the tow service driver showed my wife the inside sidewall of the replaced tire. In brief, about 90 percent of the side wall had separated from the main tread to the point the metal bands were exposed.

When my wife got home I crawled under her car and saw the passenger side front tire was also in the same defective condtion. I took pictures of both tires and downloaded them onto my computer. The cost to replace all four tires will be over 500.00 based on a Sear's estimate. I checked the internet for recalls and safety bulletins on Goodyear tires. I found there was no formal recall of this tire, but Goodyear was doing a "silent recall" replacing tires for customer satisfaction. I found many similar complaints about these tires, the Eagle RS-A, separating at the sidewall on the internet.

Aleksandr of Wilmington, DE April 23, 2009

Goodyear’ associate yelled on me and he humiliated me So I stay here a defenseless. I bought tires manufactured by a Goodyear Tires Company. Free rotation came with the purchase. Last rotation I did in Goodyear shop located in Claymont, DE. For the next rotation I came to Just Tires shop on Kirkwood in Wilmington, De. The written conclusion states: “Drivers side, front and rear, and passenger front, one lug each rim, cannot get to come off. Goodyear was the last to put wheels on. Nuts appear to be striped on. Shop’ technician did not try to remove wheels forcibly.

In other words, they did not want to do repairs for their cost. Neither did I for mine cost. I had to bring car to Goodyear in Claymont, De. That is the place where previous rotation was done. Associate, on his blouse was name Manny, took a look at both invoices, and started loudly yelling on me, calling me “motherfucker ( I am not comfortable to mention this here, but what can I do?). He was forcing me to leave the shop, he wanted call the police, he yelled that G-d will take care of all of us, etc. On my request to speak to manager, he showed me on the door out. After all of that he went to service bay. He came back with mechanic. That mechanic called himself Ray - a manager. He said he did not want to know what was going on in between me and Manny. He also took a look at the invoices, we went outside to write down numbers from the label located on the frame of the car. He promised call me the very next day, and to take care of the problem.

All that occurred on 04/06/09, at 5:00 PM. Today is 04/23/09. I have not received the call yet. I do not want to bring my car to that place anymore. I do not suggest to anyone to deal with that shop that is Goodyear, Tristate mall, Claymont, DE.
