Ann of Dunedin, FL February 16, 2009

Ann of Dunedin FL (02/16/09)
I've had my 1998 Honda Accord since it was new. I've never had the airbags deploy. So it was a surprise to me when I was severly re-ended (my trunk is now in my back seat) and pushed into another vehicle (major frontal damage) that none of my airbags deployed. I had my seat belt on, thank goodness because the impact was so severe my glasses on my face were found on the back seat floor. There is no reason why my airbags didn't deploy!

I went by ambulance to ER for neck and back trama. I'm being treated for both neck and back pain.

I was driving home from school late one night on the freeway, when all of a sudden my passenger side curtain airbag deployed. Due to the surprise of the deployment, I swerved nearly side swipping the vehicle to my left. I even had the CHP called in reference to possible debris on the road. CHP got back to me and said that nothing was found in the area. Therefore I didn't hit anything on the road.

I filed a claim with my insurance company and they said it was a manufactures problem. I then took my 2003 Honda Accord to Unicars Honda to get an answer for the deployment. They then charged me 102.00 just to tell me that there was no impact and the sensors registered deployed. Unicars Honda gave me an estimate of 5,000.00 or more to fix my car. Unicars Honda did not make any attempt to take responsibility for the manufactures malfunction. They would prefer I pay out of pocket to further diagnose the problem.

Unicars Honda also feels that it is the insurance companies responsibility to prove that it is indeed a manufacture malfunction. My insurance company also says the car is not driveable due to the airbag deployment. This is our only form of transportation. My daughter who is 4 years old, my boyfriend and I all depend on this car for our jobs and school. I am in need of legal assistance. If someone could please contact me.

Due to this problem, I had to make arrangements for my daughter to be picked up from school and I had to miss some work. There is extensive physical damage to the interior due to the deployment of the airbags. I was also very fortunate that I was not injured traveling at freeway speeds.

On 01/27/2009 I let my daughter borrow my 1998 Honda Accord SE. She hit another vehicle from the rear the airbag on the passenger side deployed, but on the driver side the airbag never deployed. My daughter hit her head and when the LMS got there she was having a seizure from the impact of the accident. It was serious enough that the LMS put her on a helicoper to Flowers Hospital in Enterprise, Al because they thought that she had a head injury.

I look on consumeraffairs and seen since 2003 there has been accidents after accidents and nothing has been done. I feel that when I allowed for my only child to borrow my vehicle I did not know I was putting my child in a death trap. When will this stop! and when will consumeraffairs make this known to the entire world! Because Honda is rated one of the top rated vehicle's. Who is protecting us!

My daughter is still in a lot of neck and back pain. I know that the car will be total and the airbag never deployed. Please have an attorney contact me!

On December 16, 2008 I was involved in an accident where I ran through a red light and hit a SUV. Since I thought my light was green I was going about 40 mph in my 1998 Honda Accord EX. The airbags did not deploy. My 14 year old was in the passenger seat and we were both shaken up a bit but we were both able to walk away. The car was totaled but I still feel that something should be done, even if it is only that someone else reads this post and thinks again before purchasing a Honda vehicle.

Since the accident my daugther has complained about back pain and I have been experiencing back and shoulder pain on a regular basis. I already suffer from athritus so the additional back pain is just that an additional pain. Thank you for having this forum.

I was in a bad accident in my 03 Honda CR-V. I hit a Dodge Durango going 40mph. The impact was all front end for me and the air bags never deployed. WHAT!?!?!?! Thank God my daughter and I were both ok.
