Kelley of Gainesville FL (1/1/04):
The Sephia was hit at an angle on the right front corner panel at about 30 MPH. The airbags deployed and the passenger side caught fire, bag and wiring. The car filled with smoke, the power windows no longer worked. She had to have someone open the door because she could not see. The dash melted. The car was declared a total loss. It would not have been had the fire not occured. We are now out a car with nothing to repair, trade in and only the payoff for the totaled Sephia.

We are afraid to drive our other Kia and only want to get rid of it. I am late for work daily because I have to drive my husband to work first. My children are scared of the Kia Rio we still own and my mother who had borrowed the car to shop while visiting for Christmas, is now obligated to stay longer for health reasons. and cannot stop coughing.

Michelle of Malden MA writes (1/12/01):
My 2000 Kia Sephia was stolen and the car crashed into a Mack truck. The airbags never deployed. I wasn't in the car but if I was I could have been hurt. The car is totaled. I am now scared to be in any car at all because I trusted that in an accident my car's airbags would work and they failed. Who knows ab others?

Sondra of Brooklyn (4/26/00):
I purchased a 99 Kia Sportage on 8/17/99. Since then the car has been returned to the dealer for service 5 times including today. The first time was on 9/25/99 for the car pulling hard to the left. It was so bad I couldn't even control the car to drive it into the service center, it had to be towed in.

The second time was 12/02/99 because the air bag light was flashing. They told me there was a problem with my knee air bag it had to be replaced and they replaced it. The third time was 01/07/00 the enterior lights did not work. That happened at 10:00 as I was driving on a highway going home and all of a sudden the entire car goes black. I couldn't see how fast or slow I was driving nor could see any vital driving info. They claimed they found a resistor switch that shorted and replaced it.

The fourth time was 4/18/00 and guess for what? The air bag light again, this time they said oh when they replaced your air bag maybe they didn't replace the module so they gave me another module. Well today is 5/26/00 and guess what I had to take it in for again. If you said the air bag light came on again you win a prize! And this time they tell me oh well maybe the module? They seem like they don't have a clue. Now the part isn't in stock I'm without a car for 2 or more days.

This car should only come in yellow!!! I have less than 4000 miles on this car -- 2448 to be exact!
