Hyundai Offers $85 Million to Settle Horsepower Suit
Kia Aces J.D. Powers Survey
Horsepower Overstated

Kia's parent company, Hyundai, admits it overstated the horsepower on certain Kia and Hyundai models. Oh, but don't worry, the CEO said, people don't buy these cars for their power anyway. that's an understatement.

In fact, there are so many problems with Kias it's hard to know where to start. Most cars have one or two problems that tend to be dominant -- Ford's 3.8l V-6 engine, to pick an infamous example. But with Kia, pretty much everything seems to go wrong.

More recently, Hyundai and Kia raised eyebrows when they finished unexpectedly high in the J.D. Powers Initial Quality Survey. The Powers Survey is highly regarded but perhaps "initial" quality isn't the problem? Check the complaints listed to the right and judge for yourself.

Check engine light has come up 3 times along with ECS light. Car loses power/stalls/sputters.This will be 3rd time taken to dealer.

The dealer does not give you a loaner. Time lossed from work, gas used from two vehicles (one from taking care to dealer, other from getting a ride back home and then back to dealer to pick up car) resulting in more time lossed.

Our car battery died late night on July 25th, 2008. We had no choice but to go to a local auto store to purchase a battery as the nearest dealership was 40 miles away. I called the dealership up and asked if they did reimbusements and was told that since we did not purchase the battery from them that it was too bad even tho we have a warrenty. We have dealt with this vehicle breaking down when we only had a few weeks, we had to get a new engine put into a few months after that. I am just beyond tired of dealing with the lack of concern from a company that puts out horrible products. Your company is the worst and I have told many people not to purchase a KIA. I have no idea the resoluation to the problem but there needs to be one.

Went in to have Sticking Gas Peddal fixed on my 2006 Sorento. Michelle told me it is due to that I have not had Throttle Body/Fuel Induction service, which they just so happen have a special on for 169.95 today July 21, 2008. I didn't have the funds to have all that work done, I just want the gas peddal fixed, so I don't lurch forward. I have Warenty and service agreement with them for 10 years. I have had oil changes, fluids checked, tires rotated every time I was called or sent a message. I feel that the sticking Gas peddal is a safty hazard and should be repaired by KIA.

i purchsed a Kia Sportage 3 months ago. my right review mirrow fell out, and i contacted Kia to have it replaced. i was told the part had to be orderd and brought in. it has been 2 weeks and no responce was recieved. i called in yesterday, and they said it has arrived and to come in as it was ready to be fitted. i went in and was told that the part had to be sent away to be sprayed as no one as aware that it only came in gray. it is illegal to drive without a review mirror and i can be fied heavilly for that. Kia's customer care and servise disgusted me as no one clearly wanted to take responcibility, even the sales person that i was dealing with as he learly stated its no my problem he said to contact custermer care, and when i asked him to transfere the call he said sorry he couldnt because he was too busy on anther call. my mirrior is still not fixed.
