Bill of Lincolnton NC (11/24/08) Truck was taken in for a complete brake job at 67,000 miles. I was charged 430 for complete brakes, which was supposed to include rotors and resurface drum. Soon after brake job was complete, I began noticing pulsation in brakes. I called Meineke and they assured me this was normal. At 74,000 miles I took Truck back to Meineke was was told the pulsation was being caused by dirt on the brakes and they charged me an additional 35 to dust the brakes.
The problem continued and I then took it to a dealer. The dealer tells me the brake drums need to be resurfaced and the rotors were bent. Meineke apparently did not resurface the drums when the brake job was done and didn't bother to check the brakes at all when I took it in the second time. I call the manager and the owner both and neither would return my phone call.
Charged for a job that was half done and fradudently charged for a follow-up checkup.
Mary of Dallas, GA November 19, 2008
Mary of Dallas GA (11/19/08) Took car in to get oil changed and the engine froze up 1 mile down the road. Replaced engine and it froze again and the mechanic stated that the oil pump was not on correctly. Replaced engine again and this time didn't put the spacer between the fly wheel and engine, causing the fly wheel to warp and throwing the engine off. Right now the car has been at Meineke for 3 wks and it's been a fight every day.
Money in tow charges, car rentals and taking the car out of our way to different Meineke stations. Time and energy dealing with customer service over this. Not having a car!!!
Rodney of Baltimore, MD September 11, 2008
Rodney of Baltimore MD (09/11/08) I had a muffler installed with a tail-pipe - I know because i picked the muffler. (lifetime) - The tailpipe fell off (apparently rusted) almost causing an accident. I took the vehicle in for service warrenty replacement and the service attendant advised me that it has been 2 years - those thing do rust I advsied her I have a vehicle that i have had for 4 years and the muffler tail pipe did not rust, actually I have never had a tail pipe rust off.
I thought that this was part of the warrenty to just put the tail pipe back on - instead Meineke tells me that the tail pipe is not part of the muffler and will cost me 269.00. This is totally unacceptable - WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE FALSE advetisement of lifetime muffler - if you will pay more to get replacement service - this is not right. I spoke to a customer service person who advise me that I should have asked more questions - I thought they Meineke were the experts and suppose to tell me what is best for my car - This is no way to treat a customer. This appears to be opportunity for Meineke to take advantage of customers.
Anita of Vancouver, WA February 27, 2008
Anita of Vancouver WA (02/27/08) I called for a quote from Meineke and was told that a muffler installed was 79.95 and an alignment would be 69.95. I made an appointment to bring in my car a few days later. When I arrived with my car, I waited 10 minutes before I was helped. Then I was handed a statement telling me it would be 300. I told the man no, I was quoted half that cost on the phone. He had the man who I spoke to come out and they said that they could do the muffler for the cost I was quoted if that is what I thought he said (It is what he said). But then they said that the man who did alignments was not even working that day. So I wasted 30 minutes of time, that could have been spent at work to drive to this place for nothing. So I wonder how the price was suddenly 300 when a blonde woman (me) walked in the door, did they think I was stupid and that I would actually pay that?!
I left, and will find another place to do the work. I had wanted it done before my honeymoon, but it will have to wait now.
