Vern of Glendale, AZ July 11, 2009 Called to make appt for a simple oil change & lube for a special of 19.95! Arrived early and told them not to bother with the safety inspection whereby they try and find other repairs to make money on! When my car was brought in they guy started doing the inspection anyway and I went and told him to stop and just do the oil change & lube! When my car was done and i paid and went home i thought to check under my car as i suspected they finished pretty fast, and they had NOT lubed my vehicle! When I called to complain they simply blamed me for not letting the guy do the complete check and oil change & lube in order and it was my fault it dint get lubed! I have filed complaints with the BBB and the corporate office of Midas and will not do business with them again, but they still got my money by doing only half the service I was promised!! veller of HOUSTON, PA July 9, 2009 I took my 2002 jeep liberty in midas for a front end alignment, at first everything seemed normal untill it was taking a great length ot time. One gentleman took my jeep for a ride for about 10 minutes than he brought it back and drove it into a stall. Then he spoke with another genleman and he took over and began the alignment. THIS TIME THE NEW guy took it for a 15 minute drive. He came took another half hour and said it was done, they proceded with the paper work another15 min and I paid them and left. I went home and decided to do a oil change and check the bolts from the midas job and low@ behold the passenger bolt wasn't tight. I called them and they told me to bring back with the loose bolt on the tie rod end. I refused because it wasn't safe so I tightened it myself.NOW MY JEEP IS ALL OVER THE ROAD AGAIN, yes I had just changed the tie rod ends 2 weeks prior. joseph of west hartford, CT July 8, 2009 i took my minivan to them to have them repair a leak on my exhaust and i was told that the price would be 272.08 to repair it,,,so I told them to go ahead and do it,,so they went ahead and started the job,,, hours later i called to see if my van was ready they told me that they had broke some screws due to rust,, so i ask them why did you not call me to let me know what was going on,,they had no answer to that but what they did say was that it was going to run me 2,240.00 for the repair, I said no it was to much ,,so then again I told them why did you not call me before you went on with the repair,,not only did they brake one screw,,,and called me but they went on and broke four and still did not call me,,,if i did not call them I would have gotten there to pick up my van and had to pay for there mistake.... after I told them it was to much they said for me to call them back in the morning and they would give me a better price,,,so in the morning I called and they said that the best they can do was 1,850.00 so I told them that it was still to high.. Marilyn of Victoria, TX July 1, 2009 I went in to the service center with my complaint that my car was making a loud noise when I started my car. After their initial inspection they came to me and told me that it was probably the water pump, that the timing belt hadn't been changed and might be the pullies. After 5.5 hours I called to check on the status of the car, they said they were putting it back together again. I got a ride back to the service center after a few minutes I was called outside to the bay area where my car was and told that the noise was still there and it was probably the compressor (which I initially mentioned to them BEFORE they tore my car apart.) The manager then said he would give me an estimate for the compressor, needless to say I can not afford this BECAUSE I had to pay 648.23 for work that was not needed in the first place. I believe they did this on purpose just to get extra money out of me. AND I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR!!! NOTHING WAS ACCOMPLISHED BUT THEM INSTALLING PARTSTHAT WERE NOT NEEDED! Cynthia of Sun City, AZ July 1, 2009 I took my car to them on 06/30/09 for an oil change. When I left there my car would hardly move and there was a clunking sound coming from my transmission. I went back to Midas and said what did you do to my car. They said all they did was change the oil.I explained to them what was going on.There was nothing wrong with my car when I took it there. So thier mechanic took it for a drive then pulled it into the bay and said there was no transmission fluid in the car. I should take it to the dealer to have them look at it.I said wait a minute you guys should of looked at the fluid before I left that is part of the oil change. So they said they filled it up with fluid and sent me on my way. When I got home I called the dealer ship and made an appointment for 07/01/09. I took it their this morning and the guy pulled out the dip stick on the transmission and there was hardly any fluid in it.So all they did is put enough in there to get me home. Because I had taken my car to Midas for an oil change and not the dealer ship I had to have my transmission fluid flushed and new put in at a cost of 196.80 and my oil change was 35.07.I told Midas they should give me the money for what it cost me to have the transmission flushed. But of course they will not do that because they say it is not there fault.I know what they did they took the plug off the transmission pan by accident and instead of making sure it got filled up they just left it. Theresa of Winters, CA July 1, 2009 I had a coupon for 39.99 (had to be surrendered) to get my brakes done and went to the local shop, with coupon in hand. My final charge on 6/5/99 was: Front: 2 rotor resurface install 40.00 1 car clean & adjust rear 24.99 Rear: Worthing 29.99 Tax: 2.17 Total Bill: 157.15 ***Lifetime Brakes**** was the coupon I returned to Midas (my mistake) on 7/22/2003 with my Warranty Certificate in hand from Midas and the estimate was no charge, but when I went to pick up the car there was additional charges as follows: Rear Free Front: Labor 60.00 2 rotor resurface 40.00 No Sales Tax charged Total 100.00 I never went back again. Daisy of Miami , FL June 22, 2009 I received a coupon in the mail 19.99 oil change and tire rotation. Of course I went on ahead and used it thinking Midas is a well known name how bad can it be. BAD. Ten days after the oil change my car alerted me with the engine oil sign that oil was low & sure enough when I got home I had NO OIL IN MY CAR. I paniced & called my neighbor who checked my car & sure enough no oil. I left Midas & corporate a message to call me & see how this problem should be resolved. I walked to gas station & pured two quarts of oil so that I do not damage my engine. Following day nothing was resolved either because the mgr. felt it was out of his hands & at that point there wasn't anything that could be done. Called corporate office & they weren't much help either. They said to take it to a mechanic & they would see how much they could help me in the repairs to my car caused by their negligence. How is it possible their mistake should become my expense. I find that extremely unfair. My car ran perfect until they handled it & they should be responsible to take my car & return it to me without the damage they caused. oil switch was replaced & now motor mounts need to be repaired that were damaged because there was no lubrication. estimated repair for that 1500.00 Edward of Santa Clara, CA June 21, 2009 On Friday 6-19-09 4:00pm I took my 1993 Lexus LS400 to Midas because the brake light on the dashboard was lit. I choose Midas because I found a coupon for 149.99 per axle for lifetime brake service. That was the bait to get me to the shop. The switch was that the brake service was not for ceramic brakes which was recommended by service manager Allan. The total cost for service for just the front brakes 477.37. The only additional repair to the brakes out of ordinary was to replace a 32.95 front brakes sensor for 169.58. That is 528% increase in price for this part. Do not go there!!!!! They wanted 89 to change a burnt out light bulb in my tail light!!!! I did it myself for 2.39 for light bulb and no tools necessary in less than a minute!!! Damon of Long Beach, CA June 16, 2009 On 6/10/09 I had problems with my truck. I bought it to Midas and they quoted me 90 to check it out and see what was wrong. A mere hour later my truck was fixed and I was told it needed an ignition distributor. When I asked to see the old one I was told the mechanics couldn't find it because by standing over them I made them very nervous and it couldn't be located. I was repeatedly admonished for "standing over the guys when they were trying to do the work." The final bill for the one hour my truck was there came to a whopping 499.47. It was a total rip-off and the advice given to never stand over people seemed to me as the real reason for being over-charged. I did stand over the guys for about 15 minutes. I also sat in the waiting area and even walked to a nearby gas station to get a sandwich. I didn't stand over them for the entire hour. They don't stock ignition distributors for 1993 Toyota 4Runners; the local Toyota dealership doesn't even stock such a part. Normally, when a vehicle needs a part, the mechanic shop will explain the problem and the part needed, and upon approval they will order the part. Then a pickup truck will deliver the part. At no time did such counseling or a delivery take place. Instead, when I asked them how much longer, they replied, "You should be good to go in about 25 minutes." Mechanic shops don't install expensive parts without getting consent from the owner first. That is why I asked to see the old part, but to no avail. They took advantage of me as I was having vehicle problems far from home, which I explained up front. (I expressed interest in getting my truck towed to my regular mechanic before they got started) I was overcharged for work that wasn't performed. They charged me for a part that they don't stock and couldn't produce upon request, and blamed me for their inability to find it because I supposedly stood over them. Greg of Grove city, OH May 16, 2009 I was told by Mr.Seymour that I was charged an extra 4.00 on my 1999 oil change. He told me my vehicle needed 6 quarts of oil.Their special was 5 quarts of oil for 19.99.He also said that they put an extra quart in my vehicle.I called the ford dealer service dept.and was told that there should be no more than 5 1/2 quarts of oil put in my van.If there is any damage done to me automobile,I will hold midas muffler responsible.
