LaQuita of Ashdown, AR August 28, 2009 Back in 2006 I notice the paint on the hood of my 2003 black Galant starting to turn white, I was told because the company didn't put on enough clear coat the paint was coming off, I paid 350.00 to have the hook re-painted now the paint on the trunk and the top of my car is turning white. It looks really BAD!. The dealership will not pay to have it re-painted nor will Mitsubishi, the car is no longer under warranty. This is clearly a defect. They need to do a recall and fix this problem. Kevin of Freeport, NY July 15, 2009 Back in August 18, 2008. My 2002 Mitsubishi Galant started giving me transmission problems. I took it the Mitsubishi Delearship where they service my car all the time. The mechanic determined my vehicle needed a new transmission. They called it in at the express extended warranty I paid for, and they sent me a used transmissionfor the vehicle. The transmission was mounted on my vehicle and worked fine up until beginning of July of 2009. The car started giving me transmission problems again. I called the delearship and explained and told me to call the express warranty to see if they were going to do anything about it. Currently the car has 70,000 miles and not even a year has passed with the transmission put on and the warranty doesn't want to deal with me due to the fact that according to them they only covered the work done on my car until the warranty expired which was on January 15,2009. I have all the paperwork done on my vehicle and says nothing about any guarantee performed on my vehicle. Lynn of Blue Bell, PA July 4, 2009 The black paint began turning white on my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant about a year ago, and it has now spread to several other parts of the car. The vehicle needs to be completely repainted. Mitsubishi told me the car is out of warranty so they can't do anything. Heather of West Mifflin, PA May 14, 2009 I am an owner of a 2003 Mitsubishi (black) Galant. Around 60k miles, my paint started fading away and I didn't know why because my vehice was garage kept at home and at work! After researching this issue, I came to find that 1000's and 1000's of others are experiencing the same problem with their vehicles. Evidently, Mitsubishi didn't put enough clear coats on the vehicles and now they won't fix it....it just so happens the deterioration doesn't seem to happen until the vehicle is out of warranty even though most of us were told the warranty on the paint was 7 years or 100k miles. Something's got to be done! I have contacted Mitsubishi, filed a BBB report and filed a claim with the NHSTA, but so far nothing. Unless enough owners come forward and report this problem, we are stuck with vehicles that look like garbage and they aren't even that old. This is a defect in workmanship that should be corrected by Mitsubishi Heather of West Mifflin, PA May 5, 2009 I purchased a brand new 2003 Mitsubishi Galant in early 2003. I am the only owner of the vehicle. Not only was my transmission replaced at only 1800 miles, but my heater has been broke since the day I purchased the vehicle and it was never fixed despite the 30 + trips I made to Biondi Mitsubishi (where I purchased my Galant). After a lot of complaining..even though my vehicle was under warranty, my transmission was replaced, but my heater was never fixed. I finally paid off my vehicle this past year and literally the day after I paid it off, I noticed that the paint on the hood and roof of my car was fading/oxidizing. Michael of Fort Worth, TX May 2, 2009 I own a 2003 Silver Mitsubishi Galante ES. I have owned it less than a year and already dropped 2000 into it for random things that go out in it. The paint peels off more every month, truly amazing. The engine light keeps going on and off and the dealership is quoting me 1000 to get the light to stay off. They say i need to replace some parts to pass inspection (sensors, etc) but after reading all of the electrical problems i get the sense that they are trying to take me for a 1000 instead of telling me the engine light has a defect. I have read many reports that would inidicate its an electrical problem not an engine problem. In addition my heater/ac system stopped working about 6 months ago and I am being quoted around 1000 to fix it. Understand, I paid 4,500 for this car 12 months ago and I am already being put in the position to spend another 4,000 on the car in less than 12 months. I just bought 1 car for the price of 2!! And if my luck continues, where might i be 12 months from now. I drive my cars very well, slow on the takeoff and slow on the brake. I have owned many cars and this is not my driving, this is the quality of the product. The company has no recalls on any of this stuff and no dealership is committed to making this right. Rene of Jackson, MS February 22, 2009
i was driving down the i-55 and sudently when i was going to change lanes i saw some white smoke, so i decided to stop on the right shoulder near an exit, in there i saw that there were no lights on the control pannel that indicated any anomaly nor the car temp was high, everything seemed fine except for the smoke, then i went to open the car hood and when i got out of the car i saw flames coming from it, as i quickly got away from the car the blazes grew very quickly police and firemen came, it blocked the interstate for a few mins. it was a big fire.
