Lawsuit Charges G35 Brake Problem

Eli  of Derwood MD (04/14/06)
I just took my 2005 G35X to the dealer for 15,000 mile service and to check out my squealing front brakes. I'm told that I need new pads and rotors. I'm told that even though the '05 & 06s have different front brakes than the '03 & 04s there are still problems with the front brakes. Infiniti extended the brake warranty for the '03s and '04's but not the '05s and 06s. Both the dealer and Infiniti customer service said that enough people complain the brake warranty will be extended to cover the '05 and '06 model year. I noticed that there is an article from Oct. 12, 2004 on your site describing the problem that owners of '04 and '05 G35s were experiencing. Obviously the problem still exists.

I had to pay 470.00 to have the brakes fixed.

We have a 2005 G35 Sedan. After one year and 7,500 the brakes failed causing an accident. As a result the driver of the other vehicle was injured. Two weeks prior I took the vehicle in to be serviced, and the service department said the brakes were good. I had the car towed back to the dealer to be inspected, and of course they couldn't find anything.

My wife has been in pain since the accident. The other driver is going to seek medical care. It seems that Infiniti is going to hold us responsible for the accident DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE BRAKES WENT OUT. Higher Insurance Premiums. On going medical problems.

I just bought an Infiniti G35 x. 2006 You won't believe it but after 28 000 km I had to change front brakes pad plus brake disc. They told me it is normal for a sport car... Come on! They think I am stupid or what... It looks like all the Infiniti Dealer in North America got a internal memo to tell customer the same bs. I would like to make an action against them in Canada.

We took possession of a new, 2005, FX35 in February of this year. We are generally pleased with the vehicle but only have 4,500 miles on it. The problem is a very annoying brake squeal while backing. Upon inquiring about the issue, I was told by the dealership that they can't solve the problem. Their engineers are aware of the noise issue but regard it as "normal".

The service rep. told me that the '03 and '04 models have been repaired/upgraded but that my '05 has already had the 'improvement' done to it. I contacted Infiniti consumer affairs and was told the same story--that the engineers feel that it is a normal chacteristic of the car and no campaign or upgrade is planned. Gee, that's satisfying, after paying in excess of 40K for the car. I am concerned that Infiniti will have the same view of possible other problems that could occur. Their consumer affairs dept. is well aware of the complaint but have no plan of action at this time.

I have a 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan, with automatic transmission. At 20,000 miles, the front brake pads had to be replaced. I was contacted by Infiniti, and told that they recognized there was inordinate wear on the braking system, so they would reimburse any repairs that had already been made, and would extend the warranty to 36,000 miles for brakes and rotors. When I took the car in for its next service, the dealership replaced the brake pads all around (although I had pads with only a few thousand miles on them), and machined the front rotors.

Now, at 46,000 miles, the car needs new front pads and rotors, at a cost of 500. The fact that Infiniti reimbursed me for the first repair and extended the brake warranty does not negate the fact that the car has an obvious break wear problem, and this will significantly impact the cost of maintaining the car over the years. They need to retrofit the brakes on 2003 and 2004 models, as they have changed the brake system on the 2005 models.

I am faced with an immediate 500 cost, and face approximately 300 in approximately 20,000 miles, and the cycle will repeat for as long as I own the vehicle. In addition, my resale value will be impacted, I fear.
