NJ Sues Nissan

ALLISON of ROCKFORD, AL June 20, 2009

My 2004 Nissan Maxima started jerking when I would put it in drive. Then after I would drive it about fifteen min after it got hot the car would not shift regular I would have to shift it manually. I took it to a Nissan dealer and they ran a diagnostic test on it and came up with nothing so afterwards they said it needed a transmission flush which cost 200.00. After I picked it up I drove it maybe 30 mils until it stated the same thing I took it up there for so the next day my transmission went completely out and I took it back up to the Nissan place and all of a sudden the knew I needed a transmission. I have read reviews and complaints about this 04 transmission until I am sick. Something needs to be done to Nissan about this product.

2001 Nissan Maxima. Catalytic Converter was identified as bad by my personal auto mechanic, just prior to the 8 year, 80K mile warranty. Mechanic called Dealership and opened a file to request warranrty coverage authorization. Brought to dealer and denied coverage because it was just past 8 year, 80K mile warranty when they diagnosed the problem. Escalated to 1st level, 2nd level and regional Nissan rep. I know a bulletin was issued and certain Maxima VIN numbers were covered for repair. 3 out of 4 Maxima owners I know locally, had to replace their catalytic converters. This is a more wide spread issue that should have been expanded. I have receipt from personal mechanic diagnosis. Paid repair cost of over 1,000 to resolve.

Yaly of Passaic, NJ April 21, 2009

I am in a little bit of a frustrating situation with my 2004 Nissan maxima. Since the beginning this car has been more of a burden than anything else. I purchased this car in July 2004 brand new it has had its share of problems here and there. Some were cover under the warranty while I was on it. Last year around July/August I brought my car to Nissan dealer because out of the blue the shift didn't want to move. Automatically they said it might be an engine problem so they needed to keep the car and diagnose it.

They finally found out what it was and it was a motor in the shift that just went dead and needed to be replaced. After this service I noticed that my car when I press the gas or the break it made this soft shifting noise. Sometime it did it and sometimes it didn't so I didn't pay much mind to it. Came October and I was driving the car more because of school and the noise became more profound and worsen.

I called Nissan made an appointment to take the car in. I explained to the guy that attended me what was going on. At this point I didn't even have 60000 mile in my car. They concluded that it was a motor mount that was making this happen. I spoke to the mechanic and he said I can drive the car but not to press to hard on the break and the gas at first. I came back this Friday to fix the motor mount problem which they charged me 489.00. As I am getting home the same thing starts to happen. I had to re-take my car to Nissan that Saturday.

Before the mechanic even drove my car he told me that the other motor mount is about to break as well and that was the problem but to let's take the ride anyways. Then my car did exactly as I had explained before to them. It shift hard then it will not do it for a while then it would do it again. Then they told me they had no idea what it was. They put the car through the computer and nothing comes up wrong. He told me to re-take my car in Monday to have a further look at it. They said they did all types of diagnosis but nothing comes up, but since the car is shifting hard I have to replace my transmission.

I am really upset that this is going on when this is supposed to be a brand new car and always maintained. I bought a new car so I don't have to go through this. I think it's unfair that I have to pay 3500 for a transmission in a car that has only 65500 miles on it and they just don't care. They keep saying it was the motor mount but the car does the same thing it did before I fixed the motor, and I asked the guy if there was anything else wrong with my car and he said no everything is fine just give it a tune up of almost 400 dollars and you should be set for the summer, but now my transmission is shut. I don't think I should have to pay for this. Please help

I bought a brand new 2005 Maxima never before driven in Steptem of 05 and it is no April of 09. My car only has 47000 miles on it. The first year I got it (brand new) the AC generator got fixed 3 different times. I've had problems with the wheels, sunroof, steering wheel and now the instrument cluster is going bonkers. I was told it is sending signals to all the other systems of my car and now my break light wont go off. My door is saying open when it is not. The signal light keeps going out. The engine light comes on and off and many more. I filed a case with Nissan and was told that they have decided not to help because my warranty is up.

Because of this my battery has gone dead causing me to be late for work. For just the instrument cluster alone it will cause me an estimate of 645 not counting the sunroof and steering wheel. I believe that I recieved a bad car off the line.

I have been doing regular oil changes on my car. At 36K miles my 2007 Nissan Maxima started burning oil and I have taken to the dealerships and the only thing they can tell me is that the car needs a new engine. My car is sill under warranty and they will not honor the warranty because they blame me for non-maintenance. I have the oil change service records to prove it. They charge me the diagnostic charge to put the car on the machine to look at it, but never done it. I seeked an attorney to represent me, they sent a tech down to the dealership who only took the valve covers off, took pictures of the sludge which had built up because the oil is burning, has no where to go which is causing the catalytic converter to get stopped up. I cannot afford to keep making 500 payments and pay for 12K in repairs.

It has caused us serious more damage to the car with the catalytic converter damaged and along with transportation problems as thats my only means of transportation.

I own a 2006 maxima, went in to have a dignostic because my car was making a noise as if the transmission was going. The mechanic told me even before getting inside the car he knew the poblem, from 2004-2006 he has sen alot of maximas cme in because the body valve in the transimmison is damaged. The service guy confirmed the story.

my question is if you have all these cars with the same problem why is nissan not doing anything about this to fix it. obviously it was not me that damaged the car. I am extremely disappointed with nissan. their suggestion was to get a neew trasnmision or trade in the car...how convinient for them! I regret ever purchasing a nissan!

I have spent 300 hanging motor mounts that i was told were damaged and to have flush done. I owned a honda and sold it with 200k miles NEVER had a flush...why do i need this! ITS ABOUT GETTING PEOPLES MONEY!
