Laurie of Rochester, NY February 4, 2010

Hit a deer head on @ 50 mph. Extensive damage to front end, radiator, engine compartment. Air bags did NOT deploy. My one deciding factor on purchasing a Saturn Vue was the high crash rating it had. After reading of alot of complaints regarding air bags not deploying, I will not feel safe driving this car again.

Melissa of Madras, OR December 1, 2009

I was involved in an accident on 11/24/2009, where I rear-ended a semi-truck. I was going approximately 23mph when I hit the truck, the airbags in my 2002 Saturn SL2 did not deploy. I am thankful however, that my seatbelts did not fail. According to the threshold for airbags at a 14 mph crash they should of deployed.

Linda of McKinney, TX August 26, 2009

My family and I were in a severe accident with our Saturn Vue last night. Another driver (identified by the police as a hit and run driver) side swiped us and a semi-truck hauling gravel slammed into the back of our car. Our daughter was in the back seat, my husband and I in the front (I was driving). Our car is most likely totalled.

Once I got past the shock of the accident, I realized that the air bags never deployed and saw that both of the front seats had broken all the way down onto the back seat during the accident. Luckily for my family I get locked in during emergency situations and was so intent on steering the car through a spin and keeping us from being killed that I did not go back with the seat. My husband did and both he and the chair back slammed into our daughters legs. Should I have gone back with the seat, we would most likely either be severely hurt right now or dead.

We are in the process of contacting Saturn because I would like to understand both the airbag non deployment and the seats breaking down. We are having the insurance adjuster take pictures of both items and will be supplying those to Saturn.

Anne of Buzzards Bay, MA August 11, 2009

I was in an accident on 8/4/09. My drivers side quarter panel along with the front end of my car was badly damaged and my airbags never went off. My chest is injured from my seat belt and steering wheel. I would like to know if there is anything legally I can do regarding this issue. Thank you.

Valeria of Federal Way, WA January 25, 2007

Valeria of Federal Way WA (01/25/07)
I was pulling into the driveway of a gas station this morning and the side airbags on my Saturn LW100 deployed.

I called Saturn and they told me to bring the car in so they could evaluate it. I was told that they would not pay the 1700 to repair the airbags and that there was structural damage on the underside of the car that was the cause for the deployment.

This may have been caused from hitting a speed bump. They said that it was a my fault. I had not hit a speed bump that morning and the incident may have been months ago. This makes no sense to me.

Shelly of Fairmont, WV November 6, 2006

Shelly of Fairmont WV (11/06/06)
I was traveling 50 MPH and a deer jumped out and I hit it head on. I was so scared, I pulled over to get out of the road and the police came and took a report for insurance purposes, which I was thankful that the police was close by. I had 2 passengers in the car, one was in the front seat and my 7 year old daughter was in the back seat. The airbags of my 2002 Saturn SL1 never deployed. As I was talking to the manufacturer of Saturn, he said he would send out an airbag packet with information of my airbags and restrictions. Please, restrictions? these airbags should have deployed at 50 MPH head on collision. Saturn gave me a reference number to use if the airbag information packet did not answer my questions.
