Joann of Holmen WI (10/10/08)
On September 21, 2008 I started my 2003 Saturn L-200 and it ran for a few seconds and then shut down. We had it hauled to Bill's Automotive in Holmen, WI and he determined that the timing chain had broken which damaged the valves.

We are currently having another motor installed and the estimated cost is around 3000. This is the only problem we have ever encountered with this vehicle.

I have a 2002 Saturn Sedan with less than 46,000 miles on it and I'm in the process of having the engine replaced. The engine knocks very loudly and the vehicle revs up. Saturn has looked at it twice and given me lame excuses like I didn't change the oil often enough. I did.

Less than 46,000 miles and the engine is useless. I will never buy another Saturn and I've told every one I know and everyone who has commented on the engine knock how few miles are on the car and NOT to ever buy a Saturn.

Robert of Macomb MI (08/20/08)
My 2002 Saturn L200, stopped running while driving. Car was towed to Listed dealership, and was contacted by Mechanic informing me the timing chain had broken, and would cost me 1350.00 to replace. After researching this, and finding the recall issues, and lack of fixing the known problem with the complaints, and ongoing Probe into extending the recall,I would be likely to be stuck with this bill. I have contacted Saturn on this to see if they would cover the cost in fixing this defect. Waiting to here from them......I am sure judging by the call, They don't care, and cannot help me. I only have 50,000 k on this well maintained vehical!!! very low miles for the year of car!!!

2001 Saturn L200 44,000 miles the timing chain jumped a cog and all valves were bent. Current repair bill is 3150.

It's my daughter car while in college in San Diego, Ca. We live in Minnesota so try and get a car repaired 3000 miles away.

Patricia of Budd Lake, NJ August 13, 2008

Patricia of Budd Lake NJ (08/13/08)
I have a 2000 L Series Saturn and was driving it when I began to hear a loud ticking. It turns out that like a million others, my timing chain broke. Particles of metal from that incident have ruined my engine and while there are service bulletins galore on this the dealership won't cover any costs.
