I am writing to inquire whether there has been a recall on defective transmissions, or any specific transmission components. Saturn has marketed and promoted its automobiles by touting their dependability, longevity and virtually trouble-free upkeep. How, then, is it possible that after only 5 years and 63,000 miles my transmission needed to be replaced? If Saturn’s publicity campaign is to be believed, this should not have happened.

It leads me to believe that I may have been sold a defective car? I maintained my vehicle in great condition and was diligent in bringing it in for recommended check-ups. Saturn’s regular maintenance fees are rather costly, yet at no time was my transmission checked by your Service Department. Please note that when I bought my car (a 2000 SL-1 Model), I also purchased the highly recommended “Extended Warranty” for my vehicle which expired on June 2005.

Had your mechanics done a thorough check of the transmission, they would have (should have) caught any incipient or existing defects. 3 professional mechanics were quite surprised that the transmission had to be replaced in such a relatively short time. I am terribly distraught over this unfortunate occurrence and hope that I shall receive a satisfactory reply regarding the above.
