When I bought my new car from Classic BMW I was sold an extended service contract for $1,395.00. I found out when I moved to California that BMW does not honor this service contract because it is in fact some sort of insurance policy. Is it legal to sell insurance disguised as a service contract? I was never told this was an insurance policy. I never saw a copy of the policy and I was never notified who the policy was with nor that the policy was sold to some other insurance company.

What was sold to me as a "bumper-to-bumper" extended service contract for 100,000 miles did not cover the battery (which I had to replace twice) and did not cover a broken shock bracket. I was sold this warranty with the understanding that service would be provided to 100,000 miles but at 52,000 miles this warranty is worthless.
