03 Volkswagon Beetle Convrt. I recently bought a 2003 Bug. It looks like I seem to have most of the problems everyone else is having. The back window has come detached from the canvas, the air bag light stays on, the driverside door window sounds like it's going to shatter when you close the door. The worst of all is the smell! It has one of the worst smell, it's hard to explain maybe hot burning oil. It makes my hair and clothes smell. I have had this for 1 week and can't drive it because it smells so bad. I am bringing it to a VW dealer on friday and they don't have a clue where the smell is coming from. Any idea's on how to get rid of it?

My 2003 VW Converitble Driver window regulator is broken. According to the Dealership this is known issue and my extended warranty does not cover the upgrade Volkswagen says the car needs to prevent the problem from re-occuring. Many Beetle owners are having this issue apparently and VW ignores the complaints but continues to collect the 900-1500 repairs.

Here's a list of the problems I've encountered since purchasing my 2000 Beetle a couple of years ago Replaced Alternator 3 Times, Interior Fabric Roof Sagging, In order to open the Driver Side Door You have to pull at least 3 Times on the Handle, Electric Key Broken, Replaced Headlights Twice, Interior Rear Plastic Panel above Rear Window Falling Off, Console Broken in 2 Different Places, Too Many Electrical Shorts to count, Alarm Sounds For No Reason, Axles Replaced Twice, Middle Air Vent Roller Broken, Passenger Side Plastic Air Vent no longer holds in place and just tumbles off, Driver Side Window Control Hanging off of the interior of the door, Control for Exterior Side Mirrors broken off, 3 Skid Plates Fell Off, Lower Register of Horn has broken so now horn is only high pitch, Warning Lights on dash go on and off as they please, Tail Pipe is so loud that it sounds as if Ive installed a Flowmaster. Unless you have a death-wish, do not buy a beetle

My 2007 VW new beetle has terrible a terrible smell that consume the entire car. The best way to describe it is burning wax or burning crayon. VW refused to acknowledge the problem after countless visits to the dealership even though the car is still under warranty. I filed a formal written complaint to Volkswagen of America and after 1 week of research on their end, they called me back and said they were closing my file as the dealership said there was no abnormalities with my car.

The smell is so bad that it makes me sick. I get headaches and often have to pull over because I feel like I am going to pass out. After three months, the service director at my local dealership has finally stepped in to try and help me. My car is now gutted and they still can't figure out what is causing the smell (which the service director admits to smelling.

VW so far has refused to buy back the car even though it is clearly a lemon and meets all criteria. If the service Director can't get VW of America to rectify the situation soon, I will have no choice but to hire an attorney. This is happening to a lot of people and VW of America acts like they don't know what is going on. This is unfair to the consumer. What chemical fumes am I breathing? HELP!

Headaches, Vomiting, Light Headed, smell from the fumes saturate my hair and clothing daily!!!!

I don't feel right trading in the car as I can't pass this problem on to someone else. I think it is dangerous! I don't even know if I could sell the car or trade it in. Anyone who pulls up a carfax report will see how many times the car has been in the shop for this unresolved problem. I have owned the car for 4 months. It has been in the shop countless time for a total of approx. 45 days with no resolution. They are a lot of consumers out on the internet with the same problem as me!

Bought a 2003 VW Beetle for my daughter and from the beginning we had horrible problems. Every sensor on this car went bad and after 1800.00 dollars in repairs over 4 months I decided to trade it in. The last estimate was going to cost me 1500.00 per my mechanic who does imports only. He said these cars are awful and services so many VW's in general that he should call himself VW Affordable Mechanic

I unloaded this onto the dealer lost about 2K on it but so worth it. Honestly BUYER BEWARE of these cars. Yes they are cute but expensive
