Hammers Marine and Ski

11349 Folsom Boulevard, Rancho Cordova, CA

Yvonne of Folsom CA (4/1/02):
2/28/02 Bought Boat. Informed that boat will be ready by 3/9/02 with tower and bimini top.

3/13/02 Boat and tower ready, but still no bimini top. Took boat home.

3/13/02 Returned to Hammers, as we were unable to fold down tower at home. We were told that the thread in the screws area was not threaded through and it will take some thrusting back and forth to fit it in the proper connection site in the future, and that it was normal.

3/13/02 Scheduled with Dale to do test drive with Eddy on 3/15/02 at 5pm

3/15/02 Called Eddy to confirm meeting time. Eddy was not aware of the set appt and was not able to meet us.

3/18/02 Called Hammers to inform them that the tower seem to be on crooked, and the tower seems very scratched considering it’s brand new. Radio installation company brought it to our attention that the tower should come up and fold down effortlessly. It should not take thrusting back and forth, nor should it take 2 people.

3/20/02 Brought boat in for tower inspection at Hammers. Told us that tower was defective. Told that by 3/28/02, there will be a new tower and the bimini top would be ready. Hammers did not call us with progress update. We ended up calling at 5:30pm to be told that we needed to come and pickup as they had not space to hold it overnight.

3/23/02 Schedule 2nd test drive with Eddy on 3/30/02 at 10am.

3/27/02 Called to confirm the appt the next day at 3/28/02 for install of new tower and bimini top, but the bimini top was still not there, and there was no follow up from Hammers to determine delivery date. It was agreed upon that we would bring the boat in 3/29/02 in hopes of the bimini top arrival.

3/29/02 Brought boat in. Was told that the install of the tower was incorrect, and not a defective tower after all. Told to bring in boat on Monday 4/1/02 to fill in holes of the erroneous install site, repaint and laminate the boat. Also, Hammers will install new tower. It will be ready for pickup by Friday 4/5/02. Still no ETA for the bimini top.

3/30/02 Called Eddy to confirm 10am appt set on 3/23/02. Eddy called back after arriving at Hammers to inform that due to scheduling conflict with potential boat buyers, he will not be able to meet. We called Dale to inform of our frustration.

3/31/02 Took the boat out for the first time, the boat would not start. Vince, the Service Manager of Hammers Marine happened by and stopped. After reviewing, he informed us that it was due to the ignition system. He stated that this was an older engine, so it did not contain the upgraded ignition sensor. This was a known defect, and that once an upgrade sensor was install, the problem should be resolved. He was not able to resolve our issue until Monday 4/1/02.

Spent $29k on a boat that should have never been allowed to leave their lot. The install on the tower was incorrect, the tower was not in brand-new condition, and finally the ignition sensor should have been replaced with upgraded one, as it was known to be a problem. Since taking delivery of boat, nothing has been resolved, and it is now almost 5 weeks later. Their lack of concern and service once the boat has been sold is unacceptable.
