DIRECTV packages

DIRECTV has many different channels but understands that customers have very specific wants and needs when it comes to programming options. The company offers a variety of packages with multiple features, channels and DVR options. DIRECTV has six different plans:

  • Select: A budget-friendly option with basic channels. Customers can access 155 channels.
  • Choice: A great option for families that has a variety of different program preferences. Customers can access 185 channels.
  • Entertainment: A good choice for sports lovers. Customers can access 160 channels.
  • Xtra: The company’s most popular package. Customers can access 235 channels.
  • Ultimate: Ideal for movie lovers. This comprehensive package gives customers access to 250 channels.
  • Premier: Gives you every option you need for an all-inclusive TV watching experience. Customers can access 330 channels.

DIRECTV has multiple extras and add-ons you can add to your plan. This includes premium channels like HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, The Outdoor Channel, NBA League Pass, NFL Sunday Ticket and DogTV.

DIRECTV prices

The six plans come in at different price points. Installation and DVR hookups are included in your package, but you pay $7 a month and a $99 installation fee if you want additional receivers. There is also a $9.99 a month regional sports fee.

Prices for individual packages are:

  • Select: Plans start at $59 a month
  • Choice: Plans start at $69 a month
  • Entertainment: Plans start at $64 a month
  • Xtra: Plans start at $79 a month
  • Ultimate: Plans start at $84 a month
  • Premier: Plans start at $134 a month

While DIRECTV offers great introductory offers, you must sign a two-year contract, and rates increase in the second year. Be sure to ask about second-year pricing before signing a contract. If you want to cancel your plan early, you must pay $20 per month for every month left on the contract.

Other fees to be aware of include a $99 fee when a technician must be dispatched to make repairs. You can put your streaming services on hold until you return home if you’re going on vacation, but there's a $7 a month charge. There is also a $19.95 activation fee.

The company charges $4.25 if you are late paying your bill. You must return your equipment if you cancel your service — if you choose to keep it, you'll end up paying anywhere between $45 and $135 to cover the costs.

    I would like to commend Fabian J., the DirecTV technician who installed our Satellite on Monday morning, for a job well done. Fabian was courteous and very professional. He was very respectful of our home and with the installation process. His advice and options that he offered for the installation location proved very useful. Fabian, in my opinion, is a valuable asset to DirecTV. It's not often that one encounters employees who take their jobs seriously. I would strongly recommend DirecTV do whatever they can, be it monetarily or otherwise, to let this man know just how much he is needed. I would strongly recommend Fabian to any and all future DirecTV customers should his services be needed. Fabian enjoys his work, and his work ethic is exemplary. Thanks again, Fabian, for a job well done.

So, on April 7, 2026, I called DirecTV customer service to cancel my account and got connected with (Ms. Angel-**) and very rare you find someone on the other-end with this level of customer service professionalism.       Today I had a technician come out and help me with a problem I had with my tv service problem. He was very professional and very helpful in explaining my problem I was having. He showed me what could be the problem and how it could be resolved. He also came to my home the time I was quoted and was very polite. is name is Thongma.       Longtime subscriber. They suddenly eliminated one of our favorite local channels (NBC) because they couldn’t agree on pricing. Do I get money back because I am missing a channel?

      I have had Verizon Cable, Comcast, Dish Network and DIRECTV. By far, DIRECTV is the absolute worst. You are forced to do auto pay and told you can change the date. This is not true. You have three days grace period from the first due date, there's no flexibility. You are shut off after three days and not allowed to change your auto pay date. Additionally channels that are supposed to be free do not work and after hours on the phone, this wasn't resolved as well as services shut off after three days. The customer service is horrible while included channels do not work.

      If you have Directv and you’ve been a long time 22+ year customer and your dish is on your roof. Don’t expect to continue your service with Directv. Directv has their call center out of the Philippines, these call center people are not trained on what instructions what details need to take place in order to remove the dish put on a new roof, reinstall the dish and Directv as instructed by their call center in the Philippines, Jazzmine, have the roofers reinstall the dish in the exact same spot leave the wires on the roof and our technicians will come out and take those wires and get you reconnected. Those instructions couldn’t be farther from the truth.

      First, they threaten you with a $149 fee if they have to come out and reinstall your dish, if you can have your roofer reinstall it, they’ll only charge you $49 and if you put up an argument enough they’ll refund that $49 Charge. Directv does not allow their technicians to go on the roof. I’ve known this for years. I questioned it. I questioned it numerous times on the recorded conversation, Jazzmine insisted your technician will go on the roof and will have you up and running the following week. When the technician arrived just as I had questioned, no, technicians don’t go on the roof so I did not get my service reinstated. Four service visits were set in play in the following seven weeks of which they never went on my roof.

      A claim was opened because I now had a satellite dish nailed into my new $30,000 roof and Directv was unwilling to connect those wires via a contractor that could go on the roof and bring those wires down and then bring them into my attic, they never spoke with The claims company Sedgwick, who denied the claim without doing any investigation stating they weren’t responsible because it was installed by a third-party. When I tried to contact the claims adjuster to explain they need to speak to Directv. It’s on a recorded conversation. It was Directv, who in fact, instructed me to have it reinstalled by the roofers so that I would not incur a $149 charge!

      This process took approximately eight weeks, 64 hours of my time on the phone talking with numerous agents, supervisors, extended supervisors, escalation teams, and when all was sudden done after paying my bill even when I didn’t have service, the credit that I received was $123. I have a satellite dish that is attached to my $30,000 roof with wires lying across my brand new roof and not one person at Directv is willing to accept responsibility that that satellite dish is on my roof because of their instructions and they were perfectly willing to just say “fine, will disconnect your service!”

      When I contacted Directv when I received the pittance of a refund when I had received a bill that stated they owed me $329. I had them offering to give me a $200 gift card to come back to them apologizing with regret that Directv was willing to let a 22+ year customer leave Because they were unwilling to pay a subcontractor $200 to take six steps on my roof to bring the wires into my attic, although willing to give me $200 to come back and be a customer. When I explained the stupidity of this rationale and 64 hours of arguing, I was finally told you can file a complaint and ask them to review our denial.

      So as a long time, Direct Tv Customer, who couldn’t have been a more happy customer spoke highly advertised. What a great company they were, Directv was unwilling to right the wrong they created when a customer called and asked “I’m getting a new roof. What do I need to do”. Having gone through the experience I would never again recommend Directv as your loyalty means absolutely nothing to them. They are perfectly happy to accept your payment every month but when they make a mistake, they are 100% in denial.

      Directv will not stand behind their mistakes. If you’re looking for a good satellite company, Directv is not the company that you want to go with as as long as they are getting their money, they’re fine, when you need them to simply get you back up and running because you got a new roof, they play dumb, they deny, and they leave you hanging to pay a horrendous bill to have a piece of equipment that belongs to them removed, and the roof repaired when it was their instructions and the reason that their equipment was placed where it was! Directv is a horrible company in regards to customer service, customer, loyalty and customer satisfaction!

      I have no doubt this review will not mean a thing to DirecTV but I am sending it anyway. DirecTV has a horrible customer service dept. When calling to get help the person I speak to is outside of the U.S. and their command of the English language is horrible. Their loyalty program is a joke. When I call to get help to lower the bill, I am told there is nothing that can be done because there are not any promos available, because I have or two still active this despite the fact I have been a loyal customer for years and have never missed a payment. It's as if I don't matter. Take my money and giving nothing in return.

      Their packages are priced too high and package selection leaves a lot to be desired. The final issue that will end my subscription to Direct that DirectTV and ABC are at odds over money and cost, depriving me of being able to watch the NBA finals. This is unacceptable and I will be cancelling my subscription to Direct immediately! I do not expect to hear anything back from the company because just don't care about their customers like me!

      I have been a DirecTV customer for over 25 years. I tried to watch the Stanley Cup game last night, 6/2, which was being aired on ABC. Since DirecTV has not signed an agreement with ABC I was not able to watch through Direct, which I pay a substantial amount to each month. There was a notice on my TV that I would be able to watch the game through Hulu, which is a subscription I do not have, nor did I want. So to watch the game I set up a Hulu account. In order to get the ESPN sports channels I had to purchase an entire package, with other streaming channels, which is $49.98 per month. They charged me for the first month.

      I called Directv today asking for reimbursement since I was forced to pay this amount if I wanted to watch the game. The customer service rep told me they do not reimburse for 3rd party fees. I was offered a credit of $10 as a courtesy. So, unfortunately for Directv, I cancelled my service and they are losing a loyal 25 year customer. I'll be calling Dish in the morning to set up an account with them.
