Asurion

Sandra of Cambridge City, IN June 10, 2009

I had an accident with my brand new Blackberry 8830 World Edition phone. Thankfully I had purchased insurance, and I called Asurion to have the phone replaced. I paid my 50 fee and got the replacement the next day. I noticed immediately that the replacement was a refurbished model, but thought I would give it a try because surely Asurion was an honest and reputable company...boy was I wrong!

About a week later I noticed I had to "wiggle" the charger wire for it to make the connection. I called to see if they would replace the replacement phone and was told "if the phone is still working we can do nothing to help you." I should have known I was in for trouble.

The problem got worse and worse, and three months later, the charging port quit working altogether. I called to explain the situation AGAIN and asked them to send me a second replacement because this one should still be under warranty. I was told "since you wiggled the wire so much, you've damaged the phone" and they would not replace it without my filing another claim and paying another 50.

Asurion should be investigated for their business practices. It's NOT about the loss of money; it's about being an honest and reputable business and serving the needs of your customers. They have not served me well. If they are replacing a piece of equipment they should be required to replace it with NEW equipment, not junk that they've pieced together.

I sent my xbox them it came back had the same problem in a months time had to send it back again with the same problem. They sent it back the light came on again within a weeks time. I turned it off and on again it worked for a short time. I called them to get a return label to return it for the third time with the same problem. I've been waiting to receive the label for approximately a month and still no label.

I requested a call from the shipping supervisor and no one called. I keep calling them and they keep requesting a label to be emailed to me. I never receive it or a call. They have had me wait for via email, USPS, and UPS, still no label.

Asurion Insurance is a major ripe off. You pay so much a month and then 50 fee and they send a rebuilt substandard phone that breaks in less then two months. When you contact Version Wireless and Asurion about the problems they pretty much tell you to pay another 50 or go to hell. I know so many people who have had these problems. 7.99 monthly insurance fee x 5 phones x two years + two 50 fees =1058.80

James of North Little Rock, AR March 30, 2009

James of North Little Rock AR (03/30/09)
On March 3d, I lost my phone. I reported the loss to Verizon Wireless at my local retail storefront and had them deactivate that phone, immediately. I filed a claim with Assurion for the lost phone, paid 50.00 deductable by credit card. I received an identical replacement phone the day after filing the claim. Two days after receiving the replacement phone, my original phone was found and returned to me.

I called Assurion to find out the proper way to clear the claim. I was told to return a the phone. I can now not get a refund because I kept the wrong phone. Nothing was said, in any converstaion with Assurion, about which phone to return. I had two perfectly good, identical telephones in hand. One was functioning, the other, only deactivated. When I called to check on the refund of my deductible, I was told to return the replacement phone and a refund would be sent. I asked for my original phone and was told it no longer existed and it was impossible to return.

I have put 2 claims in with this company only to have problems both times. The first time they lost the paper work, resent it, then they sent me a broken phone sent it back, then they sent me the wrong phone, 3rd time and 2 wks later finally got the phone. Now had to put another claim in same thing after 2 days they sent me a broken phone, that was on a thursday they told me I wont get a new phone till the broke one is on transit so i won't get it till Monday. Meanwhile both times they had no problem taking my 80.00 deductible out of my account! Smoething needs to be done, this company is a rip off!
