Flycell

Johanna of Durham, NC October 15, 2009

Like the many other complaints about Flycell, I opened my AT&T cell phone bill today and was struck by the payment amount. Upon further inspection, I realized that I had a "communication charge" for 19.99/month from Flycell for the content provider Bango. I have no idea what either of these are, nor do I recall ever signing up for a subscription in any way.

Terry of Tyler, TX October 15, 2009

I just noticed on my mobile phone bill in which I have 7 phones, has been being charged every month from Flycell, Striker, dada ringtones and Buongiomo. These charges are not authorized. This practice must stop. I would like to see about a class action lawsuit against this type of practice. I did not catch this for a long time and the financial cost is around 1000.00

Warren of paducah, KY October 14, 2009

i got this text message from flycell saying i purchased something from them and i didnt i use prepay so i dont purchase anything from my cell phone it took 19.99 from my account i only had 21.06 on my account i cant make a phone call with 1.06

Tamara of Goodrich, MI October 14, 2009

My husband and I also have issues with this company. Our son (11) received a text that he opened from Flycell. He then just deleted it. However, apparently once you open one of their solicitations, unless you proactively contact them and enter the 5-digit code they put in the very bottom of the text message, you are automatically subscribed to their service whether you want it or not. We didn't even realize this until we got our monthly cell phone bill.

I notified my phone carrier; and the CSR explained what happens with these 3rd-party solicitors. My phone service carrier did stop the charges, but when I notified Flycell, they told me they would not refund the charges because "they assume we want the services, whether we even use them or not". I was able to put a stop payment through my phone carrier, and our kids now know not to open any unknown text messages on their phones. Flycell comes across as a rather unethical company, to say the least.

Nora of Georgetown, KY October 6, 2009

I took an IQ test on facebook and was supposed to get a result on my phone which I never did, but I did get charged 9.99. I also got charged 19.99 the second month. It took me two months to realize what was going on.

I am disabled, I just had a kidney transplant and I am not able to pay for things like this. Maybe we need to get a class action suit against this company to stop them from ripping off so many people. I am afraid to do anything on facebook now. I don't go out a lot for fear of catching the swine flu, so facebook is my way of staying in touch with friends and family and now that is ruined for me.

Bob of Fairfield, CA October 2, 2009

I noticed a charge of 19.95 recurring on my ATT mobile bill. I did not authorize these charges, and have no idea how Flycell was able to sneak those charges on my bill. I think they what these folks doing is illegal, certainly sneaky. They should be stopped.

Patti of Columbus, IN September 28, 2009

I too was scammed by Flycell- took anonline IQ test when the sire came up on Facebook. Gave me a PIN number to get my so-called results and never got anything back other than a text message today showing my cell phone account had been depleted to 8.00!!!! Needless to say I an furious and told the rep that I would report this company to the FCC! I wanted a refund and he told me that 19.95 was the INITIAL subscription fee and that it would not be refunded! These people need to be stopped!!!

Jennifer of Highlands Ranch, CO August 27, 2009

Flycell pops up on other websites (including other ring-tone websites and facebook) and tricks you into filling out their form, which they claim is authorizing them to charge your cell phone. I got a text message from them saying I subscribed to something for 9.99. I cancelled it RIGHT AWAY!!! Then I get my cell phone bill and there is a charge on there from them for 9.99. I called "customer service", which is in India, and was rudely told that they would not give me a credit. (I called TWICE, talked to 2 different people, and got the same ignorant, hostile attitude). I pointed out that it was cancelled within minutes (if not the SAME minute) that I subscribed. They didn't care. They refused to refund my money. I told them that they stole my money... they don't listen to you, all they do is talk over you and rudely tell you "too bad". The following website has a forum with many others having the same problem and, in some cases, getting charged 19.99. This company steals money from unwitting web-surfers. This sort of practice should be banned!

James of Dallas, GA August 13, 2009

Clicked on an IQ test on Facebook,at the end of the test it asked for a phone #, which I gave to receive a text message with the score, then it began asking for more info at which point I ended out, I never got the answer or approved a download but got a 19.99 charge on my AT&T bill. AT&T was very puzzeled about it but were very helpful. I found the blog site by searching for FLYCELL on Google. This is a huge ripoff. Somebody get them FCC.

I did halt the FLYCELL "service"by texting STOP on the AT&T bill. I received the reply "You have successfully opted out of the Flycell ClubPack. Service is cancelled. You will not receive more msgs or charges from us. Attorneys may contact me, I'll be glad to help. 19.99 charge on my AT&T statement. 1 hour on phone with AT&T and another 1/2 hr researching how it occured.

An of columbia, SC August 13, 2009

I keep getting billed by Flycell through AT&T 19.99 for many months before I realized it. AT&T could only refund 3 months back. The charges were not authorized by me, there hasn't been anytime in the past had I heard of Flycell or subscribed to any of their services. What if the charges were in the hundreds or thousands of dollar? How do we get the money collected illegally by Flycell 6 months ago? Sending a text message "STOP" to '69999' stops the service. But why do we have to do that to begin with? We don't get charged unless we allow it. Period.
