Flycell

Connie of Mannford , OK June 17, 2009

I was on Facebook when a friend sent me an invite to take an IQ test. I filled out the info. A pop up said something to the effect that I could get ringtones on some service. I said "no". I went to the service to make sure I didn't sign up for something accidentally and it said I did not subscribe to any service. So I thought I was done with it. Then I got my cell phone bill and saw the 19.99 charge to Flycell. I was furious! This sort of underhanded, unethical, sneaky business practice needs to be stopped by the FCC. AT&T reimbursed the charge and put a "Stop this service" note on my account. I asked them to be sure there were no further billings for this. The customer service rep told me this would probably stop it, but if not, to call back and they would take care of it. He even told me that the same thing had happened to him and that it was able to be stopped after one billing.

Marianne of Harker Heights, TX June 5, 2009

IWas on the computer the other night and there was an ad showing Oprah Winfrey stating her I.Q. was 103 something like that prompting you to take this test to see if you were smarter. Well don't I feel stupid. They went through a list of questions and they wanted you to put in your cell number to get the results. It doesn't say anywhere that you were purchasing Flycell services. When I noticed that I was going to be charged for this I tried to select stop as other people have noted after I went on this website and seen other complaints it wouldn'nt let me. The part of this whole thing that irritates me the most is I just have a paygo phone through AT&T for emergencies only I had like 24.00 on the phone. The next morning I had 1.95 left.

I didn't think anything of it until I added 25.00 more on yesterday. This morning I have only 3.98 left. They had charged me twice. When I notified them of this I was put on hold then the so called customer service person told me that there was no way of making a mistake that I had purchased this knowing what I was doing. When I asked to talk to someone higher up he informed me that the manager wouldn't be in for another hour. That I could call back. When I replied saying "likely story" he hung up on me. I realize I have lost 40.00 dollars and I know to some that doesn't seem like alot. But when your a single mom working your rear off trying to make ends meet and to provide for your child It's alot. It just burns me that there are companies out there getting away with this. They have got to be stopped. If there is is anyone out there that would know how and if I could get my money added back onto my phone it would be much appreciated.

Wayne of Plant City, FL May 18, 2009

While on Facebook.com my wife of 70 years of age was playing a childs game with our grand child. There was a pop-up that came up stating that were being challenged by friends on the Facebook game of Farm Town. It appeared to be part of the game they were playing but come to find out it was not. They proceeded and went and took the test and for them to get the results, they had to enter my wife's cell phone number and they would send the results of the test back as a text message. My wife is not sure what happened after that but never got the results. This was around the first part of April.

We received our telephone bill and noticed we had been charged 19.99 for subscribing and another 9.99 for the month of May to Flycell downloads. Immediately I called this Flycell downloads and told them what had happened and I was politely told me that since the private policy was accepted, there was nothing that I could do about it except cancel the membership. There was no mention of joining anything anywhere except deep into the private policy. I could see then that this was nothing but a scam.

I called my telephone carrier this morning and they removed all the charges from this 3rd party Flycell. I am not out anything and the only reason I am reporting this is to see if this operation can be put out of business and not take advantage of anyone else.

Sylvia of Apopka, FL April 14, 2009

Sylvia of Apopka FL (04/14/09)
I was on the Costco website when I was sidetracked by a Costco Shopping Spree offer. They asked for my cellphone number which I hesitantly entered. I received a code which I thought was for the shopping spree (stupid me). As soon as I realized what was happening & that this was a subscription service I immediately sent a Stop msg. Well, I've been charged 19.99 on my AT&T bill. I called Flycell.com and was told that the subscription was cancelled immediately but that I'm still responsible for the 19.99.

Can't something be done about these companies that continuously add charges to cellphone bills. I should not have to pay for something I didn't not want, don't want, am not interested in. My cellphone is for talking I'm not interested in ringtones, wallpapers, screensavers, etc. Flycell would not listen and insist that I'm responsible for the fee even tho I cancelled within minutes. Can you HELP!

Economic? Who isn't broke these days and I don't need some company charging me for something I don't want and didn't use.

Martin of Austin, TX February 15, 2008

I have been twice charged 9.99 for mobile phone services that I never agreed to. My carrier refuses to accept my word that I never knowingly subscribed to the service and refuses to remove it from my bill. Whenever I try to contact Flycell, the Acotel US partner, I am put on hold.

I'm being charged monthly for a service I do not want and never asked for, regardless of what my mobile carrier says.

Malcolm of Irving, TX November 24, 2007

Flycell, Inc. sends unsolicited text messages to cell phones and then automatically enrolls the victim in a monthly subscription to their services for 9.99 per month.

My cell phone carrier, T-Mobile,refuses to reverse the charges and insists that I deal with the perpetrator. When I call Flycell (800-580-0017) I just get put into a recording asking me to leave a message. Meanwhile my cell phone account is being charged 9.99 per month for services I never requested and have never received.

Wilda of Fairfield, CA November 13, 2007

Months ago I saw an ad for free ring tones on Netzero. When I clicked on the ad they required me to register to receive the free ringtone. The registration required me to give my cell phone number, and I expected to receive a free ring tone. I did not get one nor was I informed at any time during the registration that I was subscribing to a service for a fee. In October '07 I noticed that my combined bill from AT&T was 10.00 more than usual and when I check with them for the cause they indicated that there was a 9.99 charge from Flycell and that there were charges for text messages received from them. Such deceitful practices should be stopped.

Flycell does not make it easy for anyone to talk to them except through e-mail and text messaging, and I cannot get it clear from them that they will stop charging or text messaging me. Since I did not request their service I have no password to access my account, that I did not ask for; and since I had AT&T turn off texting on my phone, I cannot receive a new password that is texted to my phone. I cannot text the word "stop" to them as instructed by their automated phone service. I have contacted AT&T three times to get them to credit my account for the erroneous charges, but I must get Flycell to stop the now 30.63 in charges.

Kevin of Staten Island, NY June 5, 2007

The website flycell.com uses a very shady tactic to scam innocent consumers such as myself into being charged 9.99 and I have read reports of charged being far higher. Basically they say you have one "free ring-tones" if you enter your cell phone number into their site, even without entering a credit card or any other form of personal identifcation. You are instantly charged 9.99 monthly without being aware of it

Jackie of Oxon Hill, MD October 5, 2006

In May 2006 my niece without my permission or knowledge entered my cellphone number in flycell for free ring tones. During this time flycell had begin to continuously text message me on my cell phone, however I have never responded because I didn't know that I would be charged for something I don't download to my phone. Later that month on my sprint bill I was charged 18 additional dollars. I contacted sprint and they gave me flycell phone number (refers you to text them) and website and told me to text stop. I followed the instructions and they continued to bill me. At that point I had all premium services with text services discontinued from my phone so that I would not have that problem. I did not have any problems until September 06. Where I was charged 9.99 for ringtones again. I contacted Sprint various reps and supervisors again and they told me they could not give me a refund because it was considered a premium service charged by a 3rd party. I indicated to Sprint that we had gone through this in May when I personally had everything removed from my phone so that I would not have this problem. I do not have the capabilities of receiving text msg or sending text msg. This information should have been documented. The only way the ringtones can be established on my phone is by text messages

Maureen of Smyrna, TN September 15, 2006

I got charges on my phone bill of 87.00 for ringtones subscriptions that I never did. I called T-Mobile, they simply can not cancel the charges. I am pretty mad. They gave me the phone numbers of all these companies. I called two and they said they cancel my subcription, that I never did. Jamster said they were going to mail me a check... go figure... I want to sue these complanies... Help
