Dell Talks Back

We are awash in complaints about unpaid Dell rebates. The complaints below represent just a tiny fraction of the megabytes of complaints we've received over the last few years. There is no sign the situation is improving, so buyer beware!

Anyone with a similar complaint should do the following:

  • File a complaint with us; complaints to our site often lead to class action lawsuits which penalize offenders and get at least some recompense for consumers.
  • File a copy of the complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, which prosecutes violators;
  • File a copy of the complaint with your state's attorney general. You can find the address in our Resource Directory.

I ordered an advertised special Dimension B110 , which had a 50.00 rebate. I used the personal account so that there would be a good paper trail. It has been 6 months now and NO REBATE.

I have repeatedly send my forms in with original receipts through the US Mail, return receipt and e-mail. It has been since April 27, 2006. I still have not received my 50 rebate. I believe it is a scam.

I have heard of 100's of people that have the same complaint with Dell. You do not receive the promised rebate.

Bought a Dell computer and still havent received my 150 rebate - its been 4 months. I copied the packing slip and sent it to the rebate center a day after I received the laptop. They sent a postcard stating unable to process without an order number. I cant get a customer service rep to help me b/c I dont know my order number.

My story is the same as many I have read here.  I did everything I was instructed to do to get a 50 rebate on a notebook I purchased on 01/09/06.  I mailed receipts, order# and tried to go on line to fill out rebate form.  I could not get results on line so they sent it via email - no response to this date.

I hope something gets done about this rip off, they are taking advantage of hard working people.

Constance of Brooklyn, NY August 14, 2006

I purchased a DELL computer system on 1/19/04, opening a preferred Dell account. The promised rebate, properly submitted, was rejected by Dell. On 4/3/04, I paid the whole balance minus the rebate and a promised credit. I demanded my rebate and credit. Dell paid the rebate and credit on 5/11/04, but backdated them to 1/21/04.  Dell added a 29 late fee and interest for the period between January and May, and kept adding to it until it was referred for collection in October, 2004.

The debt now totalling about 248 was reported as a delinquency to the various credit bureaus.  This has ruined my credit, always cited as the reason for a reduced credit score, higher mortgage rates and increased credit card interest rates.
