We are awash in complaints about unpaid Dell rebates. The complaints below represent just a tiny fraction of the megabytes of complaints we've received over the last few years. There is no sign the situation is improving, so buyer beware!

Anyone with a similar complaint should do the following:

• File a complaint with us; complaints to our site often lead to class action lawsuits which penalize offenders and get at least some recompense for consumers.
• File a copy of the complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, which prosecutes violators;
• File a copy of the complaint with your state's attorney general. You can find the address in our Resource Directory.

Purchased (2) laptops from Dell for our Company, with the understanding that there would be 224 rebates for each laptop. Mailed in rebate requirements on-time, waited approx. 8 weeks and received check for 200. Called Dell to see why I got a check for 200, but not the complete 448 for both laptop rebates. They said they check in on it. I was told afterward that they'd send a check with the remaining amount, and would receive in 8-10 weeks. Called 10 weeks later to check on missing rebate check. Spoke to Leck again, and he sent me to another person, who told me the same thing as the last time I called 2 months prior, that I will receive my rebate check in 8-10 weeks later. It's now been 10 weeks later, and STILL have not received anything.

I purchase computer/software for our company. Dell has not resulted in a personal loss for me, but definately it has impacted MY reputation as the one who purchases this equipment. I am VERY angry at the FALSE advertisement, and continuing Dell attitude of not caring about individual customers.

Bought a new home computer with a promise of a 150 rebate. Started rebate process as sonn as I got comuter up and running and well within the time limit. The process was so complex with downloading in order to get the rebate form and the automated phone merry-go-round, that the time expired and I was notified I was not eligible. I couldn't even get a rebate form. After learning of the problems of others with Dell, I gave up and wrote it off. I think their whole rebate program is a scam.

I bought a Dell laptop, which had a 100.00 rebate. I filled out forms and mail in. They send back a post card 3 months later and say I did not give them a valid order #. I sent them a copy of the order. I feel they are stealing money from the public.

I have submitted a rebate to them for 50.00 in Aug 2005 and they have not paid it yet. I have sent the paperwork back to them 3 times and have talked to them on the phone 4 times. Each time they say that the error is corrected, but in several months, I get a letter telling me they do not have a record of me ordering the product. I am at my wits end with them because I actually paid money out to get the rebate. It was on MusicMatch which cost me 79.90 and I was to get a 50.00 rebate for it. The really bad part is, everytime I have tried to use the MusicMatch it locks my computer up and I have to reboot it. It has never worked.
