Dell Talks Back

We are awash in complaints about unpaid Dell rebates. The complaints below represent just a tiny fraction of the megabytes of complaints we've received over the last few years. There is no sign the situation is improving, so buyer beware!

Anyone with a similar complaint should do the following:

  • File a complaint with us; complaints to our site often lead to class action lawsuits which penalize offenders and get at least some recompense for consumers.
  • File a copy of the complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, which prosecutes violators;
  • File a copy of the complaint with your state's attorney general. You can find the address in our Resource Directory.

I have yet to receive a 100.00 rebate from Dell. My notes show that I called Dell in excess of 30 times about this and to no avail. As much as I am beside myself that I am a victim of fraud, I will continue to pusue this fraudulent company. The name Dell makes me sick. As the owner of a company, I directed that Dell products are NEVER to be purchased.

If it was within my power, I would put Dell out of business.

I purchased a DELL computer, which came with a 100 mail in rebate, provided that I sign up for BellSouth internet service. I signed up for the service and I sent in all the documents exactly as required.

It took DELL more than 6 month to get back to me stating the the evidence for a service agreement with BellSouth is missing.  Ironically DELL sent this to my bellsouth.net e-mail address.

DELL appears to deliberately delay or even avoid the payment of mail in rebates.

Rachel of Odessa, TX April 18, 2006

Rachel of Odessa TX (04/18/06)
I bought a laptop on 1/05 and was told about a 50.00 rebate, which I never received. I then made a second mistake and ordered a home computer on 8/05 and followed all instructions to receive a 100 rebate, and here we are in 4/06 and I still haven't received the 50 or the 100 rebates they promised, despite the several resubmissions. They keep sending me cards that the order #'s are invalid. These are the same numbers that are on the packing slips.I even called the rebate center and waited 34 minutes just so they could tell me they only handled recent rebates and mine were too old. They gave me a 1-800 # to follow up, but that # was disconnected. I will never buy from Dell again or recommend it to anyone else.

Beverly of Northford, CT April 18, 2006

Beverly of Northford CT (04/18/06)
Refusal of Del to honor rebates on system purchase and purchase of high speed internet service. Although all timelines and documentation required were sent, the company has consistently said either we didn't submit rebates, or they were missing items, or had wrong info. Every attempt to get them to honor the rebates has failed.

A loss of 150--50 rebate on system and 100 rebate on internet connection purchased through them.

Bill of Shell Knob, MO April 17, 2006

Bill of Shell Knob, MO (04/17/06)
Bought my kid a Dell pc for Christmas and still have not received my 50.00 rebate.  They won't return my call or answer my emails.
