Dell Talks Back

Martha of Strawberry Plains, TN February 21, 2006
On Jan. 6-06, I purchased a desktop computer from Dell. It was Dimension E310 Series for 82159. From the first day I received the computer I had problems with it. I would get online and it would some how affect the desktop items. I called customer service in India several times and each time they would tell me to take the entire system down, as it was a new computer. I would lose all the saved material on the computer. After working with them on the phone and on line, I decided to return the computer at the end of Jan.

I mailed it back on Feb. 1,2006. Since then, I have talked to numerous customer care people in the U.S. and in India. They promised to return my money in 3-5 business days and today they are saying it will be at least 25-27 days. I called Dell's office in Austin,TX. today and they only have operators that put you to a voicemail system. It is impossible to speak with someone that will help you. I feel as if, I will not get my money back. They have lied to me about several different things.

I have been on the phone since 12:00-2:00pm just trying to get my money back from them and there is no one to talk to about the problem. My husband is in Iraq and I needed the computer to keep in touch with him. Now, either my phone line is busy or I am on customer care and missing his calls. We are not rich and I need that money back.

Pamela of Taunton, MA February 19, 2006
I purchased a new Dell computer for my nieces and the computer was not new. There are pictures of families on the computer hard drive. The box when delivered did not appear to be new. It looked like a return. My sister in-law and I have tried to contact dell to talk about the issues with the computer not working properly and the fact that we do not think that this is a new computer but have had no luck . I sat on the phone for over 1 hr. and was transferred to 3 different people before they hung up on me. The same thing has happened to my sister-in-law.

I cannot even find an address to e-mail dell a complaint and you cannot speak to anyone that is not scripted. This has been going on for close to a year. I purchased a extened warranty from dell for the service of the computer but I cannot even get a service person out to see the computer. Dell claims that the extended service is only if they cannot fix the computer over the phone, so they want me to take apart the computer to figure out what is wrong with it. I was never told that when I purchased the extended service. I would like to file a complaint against dell and have them replace the computer with a new one that works properly.

Misty of Aiken, SC February 17, 2006
I bought a Dell computer last summer and have had very minor issues with it since day one. Then was 5 days late on a payment in October, at which point we were called by their collections department and harrassed 8 times a day, every day until the payment was received. I immediately paid the computer off and wrote a complaint letter with my payment asking to close my account. The letter was never received so they told me to send it again to another address, which I did.

Its now been 30 days since I sent that letter and still have not received any correspondence from them. I've called several times trying to find out if the letter was received only to be told that they don't have that information and can not give me the phone number of the department that would. It was then that representative told me that she had other customers to assist and that I was holding her up. Her supervisor wouldn't help me either.
