They were two months late in delivering the laptop, when purchased, they promised a printer for 75.00 with a 75.00 rebate. by the time I recieved the printer, It was too late to get the rebate.when I called cust serv. they said they were really sorry but the rebate had expired.

The software to play a dvd was not loaded at the factory, I needed the player for work,so they promised to send the disc out overnight. When I called them one week later and told then I had not recieved the disc, they were very sorry but the order had been cancelled because I did not pay for it.They never asked for money,I was told it would be free,I paid for it once already when I bought the unit,so they said they would send it next day business, one week later I called to say I still had not recieved it they were very sorry the order was cancelled because I did not pay for it. Again they agreed to send one for free, three weeks Im waiting this is a crime.

I'm a Realtor. Two months without a laptop is unacceptable. I feel I should be reinbursed for the printer rebate, that is a scam. When I bought this I paid for a working dvd player they got paid in august and its still taking all this

Purchased Gateway model GT5636E from Office Depot on 11/17/07. Because it was a Christmas present, I didn't open it until 1/4/08, only to discover that it didn't work - didn't boot up, nothing. Called support 2 times and was told it needed to be sent in. It was received by their warehouse on 1/16/08. We received a computerized courtesy call on that date. No communication from them; I called on 1/28/08. The person could not explain what the issue was and offered to 'expedite' it to the warehouse. I was instructed to call back in 24-28 hours to find out what was going on. Called on 1/30/08 and was told that the motherboard (the faulty part) was on backorder but should arrive 2/1/08 and potentially could be installed and shipped out 2/4/08. Called on 2/4/08 and was told that 'apparently' there was a shipment of motherboards. He offered to expedite it to the warehouse and get my 'computer back [to me] as soon as possible'. I was instructed to call back in 24-48 hours. (I resent being the one having to call them to find out when my repairs will be done, or advocate to get my computer back).

When I pushed about speaking to someone else, the tech person (a 'corporate manager' according to him) informed me that he had the same authority as any supervisor. When I inquired about the possibility of getting some extension of my warranty, he offered me an extended warranty...to purchase. I doubt I have any legal recourse here, but I find it frustrating that instead of a new, working computer I get an empty desk and (someday) a repaired computer. Meanwhile I now effectively have a 10-month warranty.

Mostly this has caused inconvenience. I can't get rid of my 6 yr old computer yet. I have home projects (video, photo, music) on hold.

I ordered a computer 2/07/06 with invoice date being 2/10/06. I was promised a 50 rebate but it was not mentioned anywhere nor was it signed by the lady that sold it to me. I did not receive a rebate form in packaging so supposed it was already sent in. I would call the rebate company  and they still don't have any record of it. They said to get form from Gateway and they would help me. After seeing all the other complaint letters I don't know what to think. Of course it is paid for so no deal there I am sure. I am a 69 year old honest lady on a fixed income so the 50 is one reason I bought from them and I could sure use the money.

I have mailed, faxed, and refaxed all required documents for my 50 rebate over a 5-month period. I have called the Gateway Rebate Center 4 times and they say they haven't received anything. No one seems to be able to help me. The standard response is to wait a few more weeks and it might show up. And, if it doesn't, then fax it again. You would think at this point they would just send me the 50 rebate since they have a pile of computer notes stating my claim from all my calls. From what I've read, it seems to be a constant problem with Gateway. Why are they offering these rebates if they have no intention of honoring them?

I purchased a mp3 player for my son for Christmas, unfortunately I did this in Sept. to receive the 50.00 rebate.  Needless to say I never received the rebate and after many calls was told there never was a rebate. Funny, I had all the paperwork saying otherwise.

I purchased two emachines, one from Circuit City on 9/11/05 and one from Best Buy in October 05, expecting the advertised rebates. With both purchases I immediately did all the cutting of upc codes, copying of receipts, filling out forms completely and accurately- I made sure that everything they stated I needed for the rebates were followed to the tee. I even double checked that I did everything perfect. I purchased the two emachines computers soley based on the rebates- how naive I am.

I am still waiting for 300.00 in rebates (which they now are claiming is only 150.00). My first irritation came when I received a post card in November stating that I didn’t have a street address included on the rebate form. I had put both my PO Box # and street address on the original forms- part of my double checking that I followed their directions to the tee. I knew that they wouldn’t send rebates to a PO box because of, ironically, fraud.

I live in a rural area and we all have a PO box: If mail comes in with only a street address- it is returned. However I lived here long enough to know to put both the PO and street address, which is second nature to me. I sent back a letter to emachines with my street address AGAIN stating that if they would have looked at the form the first time they would have seen that my street address was right there as plain as day.

Is being out the 300.00 ruining me financially?  Not necessarily - though I do want what I expected when I made the purchases based on their advertising.  It’s fraud, it’s a scam.  I feel extremely violated as a consumer.  It also disgusts me to think that if someone, like my mother who received one of the purchased computers as a gift, is on a limited income and they make a purchase thinking they’re going to get a rebate and they don’t, that in my mothers’ case it could have meant her medications for a month.  How long are they going to get away with it?

I called rebate center because I had not heard anything about rebates until I rec a reject card from Emachine stating one or more upc or proof of purcahse tabs was missing for rebate # 63589 for 25.00; since they did not specify exactly what was missing I called. The rep said all I needed to do is write down the serial number from the monitor ( I had cut & mailed every # from the box and sent all receipts). She said they normally send the documents back, too. Since I didn't rec them to go ahead and make more copies and resubmit everything a gain in case the person that rejected it doesn't have the paper work anymore and to be sure to write how many pieces if items are included because somethimes they get separated. I inquired about the other rebates and found out the # 62253 for 50.00 was not received, rep told me to go ahead and remail it. I did and now they say they won't honor it because it wasn't postmarked within 30 days from purchase (but when you call on the rebates it says do not inquire about them until after 8 weeks of mailing them in).
