FTC Sues CompuCredit
Aspire Visa to Pay $11 Million to New York Consumers
Consumer Complaints

Rosanne of Brooklyn NY (12/01/08)
I had called Aspire Visa customer service to check on my outstanding balance. I was told my account had been cancelled, my avaiable credit went from over 3,000 to 0. I was told I was still rsponsible for the 650 balance and that it would reflect negatively on my credit score if i do not pay the balance due. I was told that I was not the onlt one this was happening to. I was told that Aspire Visa has terminated their credit card program as of December 8th 2008.

I asked if the termination of the account would affect my credit score, i was told it should not, but that there are no guarantees. Termination of account might have negative effect on my credit score. Also credit built up over several years is now gone.

I got a letter stating they closed my account. My letter reads as everyone else's does. I have two huge problems. First off I understand if they want to get out of the credit card buss. That is there choice. But why make us suffer. Times are hard. Why did my intrest rate have to go up? Why does my credit report have to show I am maxed out on my card because they made my limit my balance?

They dropped me. I would love to pay them off. Give me an intrest rate that will allow me to pay them off. This is insane. They took my rate to 29.99% they did this because they closed my account? Come on? Nobody can help when I call. What can I do?

My credit score is suffering. I also owe more then I did.

I am a previous account holder with Aspire Visa and I reside in California. Is there any judicial relief for California customers of Aspire Visa similar to the relief New York residents were afforded in or around July 2006.

Cay of Bryan, TX December 1, 2008

Cay of Bryan TX (12/01/08)
I, as well as every customer they have, recently received a letter stating they are closing my credit card account and have reduced my credit limit. I have called and they stated this was a management decision. I have asked to speak to one of the people who made this decision and have had no success. I have always paid my bill on time and always pay more than my minimum payment.

The people you talk to seem to almost be robotic in their answers to your questions, like they are reading off a script. Any help would be appreciated. I have found they are in trouble in New York and are having to pay a settlement to consumer's for deceptive business practices. I don't want this to negatively affect my credit as I know it will.

My credit is going to be negatively affected due to the fact this will be shown as a closed account. This came with no warning what so ever. It was completely out of the blue. PLEASE HELP ALL OF THE CONSUMER'S THEY ARE GOING TO NEGATIVELY AFFECT.
