Aspire Visa to Pay $11 Million to New York Consumers
Consumer Complaints

Carol of San Francisco CA (11/26/08)
I received a letter indicating that my account with Aspire Visa was terminated. I have never had a late payment in the many years I did business with Aspire. When I called the 800# they told me that they were discontinuing the program. Since this will be closed by them, this will affect my credit rating, which I have been building since the loss of my business in 2000. I am very concerned about the consequences of this and after reading other complaints online about Aspire Visa, I think there should be a review of the consumer complaints and how this affects our credit.

Like many others, I received a letter in the mail today informing me that Aspire was discontinuing my Aspire Visa Card. I can honestly say that I have never had an issue in the past with Aspire, as others who have written have had. I did call the company and was told that Aspire was cancelliing all of its accounts.

I just want to know how this is going to affect my credit and how it is going to be reported to the credit reporting companies. I also want to know if it is legal for them to raise the interest on the card, when they are the one's that are closing the account, what rights does the consumer have in this situation, if any?

Got the same letter as everyone else did below. I called to close my account so it would not show on my credit that they closed it. On hold for 24 minutes, hung up, called back, on hold for 21 minutes, hung up, called back, asked for a supervisor...she tells me i can't close my account either. She insisted that this would not impact my credit poorly...I find that hard to believe. I could not understand a word any of them were saying, there customer service was awful, and I do not feel that my issue was resolved.

When I got home today I opened my mail and to my disbelief it was a letter from Aspire stating that my account had been closed. I have had this card for 3 years, never missing a payment and paying off the balance annually. How can they just close an account without warning?! When I contacted the company they told me that the Aspire Visa card program was being discontinued and that it had no bearing on my credit history because the account was not closed due to something I did or didn't do...don't know how true this is. This is so unfortunate and ironic, a couple of days ago I called to request a new card because the old card was expiring soon and they told me that one was already being sent out...what a joke! If any one needs to contact the company regarding the closing your account the number is 1-800-820-3054 and if anyone knows of any recourse that can be taken regarding this matter please email me the information please.

They is going to have a negative effect on my credit rating or my fico score.

I have been a member of Aspire Visa for about 7 years and have paid off my card numerous times. I have been charged fees for having the card numerous times over the years. I had a 3250 credit limit and about 3 weeks ago i came up with the money and paid off my balance in hopes to have the credit card in case of an emergency. I got a letter in the mail a couple days ago saying We Regret to Inform you that your credit with Aspire Visa has been terminated they gave me a number to call and so i did, got a lady whom could hardly speak english and who had no clue what she was doing or what was going on and then i asked her to escalate my call to a supervisor. The supervisor could not speak english well either. They told me Aspire Visa closed but that if i still had a balance i would have to pay it.

I am out 3250 because i decided to pay off my card so that i would have it in case of an emergency. Now i do not have any credit that i can use in case of an emergency. I do not feel that its fair and i do not feel like i was treated fairly. I have been a long time customer with Aspire and this is the Thanks They Give me.
