Aspire Visa

Aspire Visa
FTC Sues CompuCredit
Aspire Visa to Pay $11 Million to New York Consumers
Consumer Complaints

Theresa of East Haven CT (11/25/08)
I too have the same issues with Aspire Visa called every number possible NEVER getting anyone who can speak clear english. They all state Aspire Visa cancelled their credit card program (it was an account management decision) and like so many others I too paid my bills on time. They also had the nerve to give me a credit increase on 11/20/08 charge the annual fee and then close the account and tell me I'm over the limit by 4.77. And they even stated that they are still charging a monthly account maintenance fee even though they don't exist anymore.

I feel they should have made the cardholders aware and transfered the balanced to one of their other credit card programs. They also handle something called Tribute, Salute and some other one. Because EVERY number I called was not Aspire anymore it was one of those just mentioned. I also mentioned to them that this will be a negative listing on my credit report and they told me NO THE BANK IS CLOSING THE ACCOUNT NOT YOU and I argued and said yeah and that means a negative mark on my credit and they insisted no. I don't see that it would be any other way. I don't see a bank closing an account and giving anyone a good mark on thier credit that usually means a DEFAULT. If there is anyone out there that can help us it would be greatly appreciated. They should offer us a settlement for 75% or more due to their FAILURE & NEGLECT and not charge us any MONTHLY ACCOUNT MAINTENANCE FEES!

Like many others,I to received a letter from aspire on 11/23/08 dated for 11/21/08 stating that my account was closed and I would not be able to make any further purchases using it,effective 12/8/08. I have been a customer with aspire for three years, in good standing, never late, over the limit and always pay MUCH MORE than my minimum due. However my cr line had been reducd with out me knowing, causing me to go over my limit, according to the letter I received. But get this, both my account and the rep whom I spoke with say that I have 12.00 available. What???

I was also told that I did not go over my limit and did nothing wrong to cause this. This descision was not based on my pymt history and was made by management. I spoke with two representatives who were verry rude and would not give me any information about MY account. I was told over and over again that I could write a letter and that this descision was made by management. Oh, and let me add that They charged me a 75 annual fee either just before or just after they closed my account.

I have been working hard for a long time to mend my credit and now this. from what I understand this could really hurt my credit score.

As others posted on this site, I received a letter dated November 17, 2008, Notice of Termination of Card Program. It is the exact same format as the letters received by others. I have paid each and every month, and have made payments in excess of the minimum. Yet, without explanation, I receive this notice that my card is being terminated. Why? I am in the process of trying to find out the reason, but expect that I will get the same treatment from Aspire.

I have good credit. This cancellation of my card will adversely affect my credit rating.

I received the letter in the mail that they were closing my account unexpectedly and without any reasoning. There was no reduction to rates even though they terminated the account. I suggest that everyone who has listed their complaints of this happening, to put one in at the Federal Trade Commission http://www.ftc.gov/credit If you are denied credit, you have a legal right to know why.

I had to tell my boss that I couldnt register for our Company Sales Event, because my card was closed. I spent at least a couple thousand dollars in the last 3 years paying them. I never missed a payment with any creditor, i just had too much credit

I am currently out of work and trying to pay down my credit cards, I called Aspire last month, and after speaking with 2 people that barely spoke English I got someone on the phone. I said I was calling to get a reduction in my APR that had jumped 10.00 points in one months time. It was around 20% then jumped to 29.99% with no notice. So I asked if I could get a reduction in interest rate so I could pay off my debt sooner, and the guy on the phone gave me a flat out NO. He could not tell me why, and could not tell me why my rate went to 29.99%. Then today in the mail I get a letter saying they are closing my account. Mind you I have always paid on time, and paid more than the minimum amount due.
