Credit One Bank

stephen of franklin square, NY August 18, 2009

This is concerning a credit card. I pay my card on time, and more than minimum every month. I had 2 more payments to pay off balance. I got rewarded for this with a 6% rise in interest rate. Then in july, 09, I sent payment of 100. I started to get harassing phone calls a all hours and days from them. when i got my Aug. 09 statement, it states that i paid 1 in july. I called them and said that they entered wrong amount. nothing they could do, was there response. i got them to remove 35 late fee, but now i have a higher balance and 3 months to pay off balance instead of 2. I believe they did this purposefully to keep me from paying balance off.

This bank continues to call my phone at all times of the day seven days a week. I have never had contact or done business with this bank. They appear to be picking random phone numbers to harass. If you type their phone number,866-372-2508 into the computer you'll find hundreds of complaints about this comany from people like me who have never even heard of this bank until the harassing phone calls started. Only one time was a message sent to voice mail and it was some guy yelling and ranting and raving so much I couldn't even understand him. I doubt that anything can be done but this company should be put out of business.

when I first got this card I had to pay a very larg fee and when that was payed off they said they would send a report to the 3 credit ratings to let them know I had been making payments on time and my credit score would go up this never happened. Then I put insurance on the card in case I wasnt able to work, then in Oct 2008 I found out I had cancer and needed to be off working starting in Jan 2009 I called the card and asked what paperwork I needed to fill out and they screemed at me in broken english(Indian)that I coulnt file any papers untill I payed everthing off on my card and they kept asking if Im filing Brankupcy and I told them no and they still wont give me the papers and I only had a bill of 125-140.00 balance now after its gone to collection its 650.00 which the collection and credit one call my house 5-7 times a day.

Credit one is the lender/finance company I used to purchase a vehicle through. I have been three months behind on payments; I agreed to work something out. I was unable to, and told Oscar Mejia, my account rep I would give up the car, to pick it up from my home address by email. My husband received a call from their Legal Department three times between 7:32-7:34 am on 4/24/09; they have called him several times at work. Glenn and Sorita Waller (parents) have received numerous calls, even though they told Oscar not to call, because our relationship is strained due to Oscar's rude/harassing everyday contact with them. I told Oscar to pick the car up by phone and email on 4/24/09. 4/25/09 I got a call from his supervisor stating they were aware of this, and what do I want to do. 4:58pm-on 4/25, Oscar left a vim stating they were coming after me and this would never end!

4/25/09 at 8:07 pm. Oscar called me from (714) 916-3612 and told me they would not take the car back, they wanted their money, and I better go out and get it or something will happen! I told him I have been unemployed and unable to, he told me to grow up and borrow it, I told him no one I knew would be able to help me they are in bad situations like me, and I told him I had to pay my rent, because I almost was evicted. He told me I better get him some money or he was sending someone after me. I asked him what did that mean, he was sending someone to kill me, and he said you said it! Not me! You will find out! He told me you better go get a job right now!

I told him it was late, and he cannot call me past 8 pm, it is against the law, he told me I don't know anything about the law, when it comes to his money I better get it. I told him I am not into killing or selling drugs, I can't get a job at night.

Credit One Bank is claiming that I owe them money on a credit card that i did not owe. I refuse to pay something that I dont owe. They now reported it to the credit bureau and its now affecting my credit.

My credit has been affected by this and different collection agencies are calling me asking for me to pay for this. I already reported this to the credit bureau but they did not remove this from my credit files.

Susanna of Brea, CA March 20, 2009

I opened a Visa account on 12/2006. I was off of work because I had a mastectomy and two subsequent operations, and fell behind on payments. I contacted the bank and was told there was nothing they could do and the late charges would continue to accrue. Then my statements stopped coming. I told them I would not make another payment until I received another statement. Instead, I received harassing phone calls on my cell phone every day, sometimes up to 15 calls per day. I finally called on March 2007 and closed the account. Again, I asked for a final statement to pay the account in full.

I have never received a statement and the harassing phone calls have continued since. I have given them payments over the phone, including a final payment of 200 in January 2008. Even though the account is closed they have continued to add late charges and my balance has now soared to 510. My credit limit was only 200. When I closed the account in March 2007, my balance was 189. They have ruined my credit. I contacted the credit bureau to report them and the credit bureau has closed the account from the day it was reported. These people continue to call on my cell at least 15 times per day. This is a scam.

Gloria of Tunas, MO November 12, 2008

I recently received a credit card from this company. I recieved it through the mail on October 20th. 2008. I activated it that same week. I go online to pay what I though was my fist payment and find out that I was charged a 32.00 late fee! Mind you I went online to make my first payment on Nov. 11th. Since I activated my card only 21 days earlier how can I be charged a late fee?!!! I have tried to call them several times on the 11th and today the 12th. Spent a total of close to 20 minutes on hold today alone. The late fee was applied approx. 2 wks after I activated my card. This is not right.

Still trying to contact them.

This company sent me a form to get me out of debt in 5 years at 13.9% interest. I said OK. I have been paying this bill every month the last year and a half with about 40.00 extra a month. I get a memo in the mail saying thanking me for being such a great customer, but your interest is going up to 17.99%. All I got from Dan was the financial crunch is causing my interest to go up. This is unfair and cheating the consumer.

I am trying to retire and pay this debt off. I am trying to do what I said I would do. I think the max interest rate should not be over 10%. This 18% up to 25% interest rate is stealing from the consumer. Please help me. I did not put them in this crisis. They came to me asking me to be their customer.

Dan said i will have to pay about 4 more months than what they said I would.

Terrell of Perth Amboy, NJ August 23, 2008

Terrell of Perth Amboy NJ (08/23/08)
On August 4, 2008, I was contacted by the credit card company to pay off a credit card which I had that was over the limit. The current Balance at the time was about 550.00. The representative I spoke with was Bell. We came to an agreement that if we paid 370.00 at that time, the credit card would be cleared. She said that she was waiving a total of 6 fees that included 3 late payment charges, and 3 over the credit limit fees, since my card was is in good standing before I had some financial difficutlies.

On August 21, I had an emergency, and thought I would be able to use my card. I checked my balance, and it said that I owed 151.00 and my available credit was 48.00.

So I contacted customer service. I dont remember the rep that I spoke with at that time but she was very rude and nasty. She said that there wasn't any agreement notated on the account. I quickly found the document that the company sent to me confirming the payment of 370. On the 23rd I contacted the company again, trying to find out exactly whats going on. They still showed no record of an agreement.

So basically they swiped my account for 370, and I get 48 out of the deal. I spoke with a supervisor Omar, who didnt know what he was talking about at all. At first, he told me that there was a note on the account to investigate what the 370 payment was for, then seconds later told me that there's wasn't anything notated on my account. I asked to speak with his superior, and he got very nervous and began to stutter, saying that no one was available, and someone would contact me on Monday.

Being in the situation that I am current in financially, I do not have 370 to just throw away. They quickly debited my account on August 4th, but are not quick enough to investigate whats going on. I think this company is scamming consumers, and its not right at this time with the shape that the economy is in. Something must be done.
