First National Bank of Marin

Madeleine of Faywood, NM December 13, 2007

Madeleine of Faywood NM (12/13/07)
I received a letter stating I owe 1146.98, and I have never opened a card wtih First National Bank of Marin.  I have never charged anything to this account!  This is going on my credit report, and I never did this.

Shevawn of Glen Ellyn, IL March 7, 2007

Shevawn of Glen Ellyn IL (03/07/07)

I was able to obtain a secured credit card through the First Bank of Marin. After using the card for a short time, I decided to cancel the card. I called the First Bank of Marin and paid the balance off, over the phone, and told the customer service rep that I wanted to cancel the card. A few months later, I received a bill for the annual fee, and I called the First Bank of Marin again, letting them know I had cancelled the card. They told me that I did no such thing and that I was past due on the annual fee, and that they were sending me to collections! This annual fee has grown from under 100 to more than 500. Years later, I am unable to obtain a credit card, am paying 13% interest on an auto loan, and life has not been easy.

Cheryl of Richmond VA (03/03/07)

After filing bankruptcy on Jan 18, 2006 I wrote letters to all my creditors to update this information to reflect accurate information. All comply but Credit One Bank, which at the time I filed bankruptcy was on my credit report under FNBM (First National Bank of Marin) They refuse to comply, I requested a dispute with Experian and Equifax and transunion several times, the credit agencies came back with the respond, that Credit One Bank states information reporting on credit report is accurate. Experian has high balance amount, credit limit amount, transferred, closed/account charged off 0 written off, charge off date, 120 days and date, 90 days and date, 60 days and date, 30 days and date.
I have been working on my improving my credit for over a year now and this company is causing my credit report to show this as a current negative and not part of my bankruptcy.

Elijah of Thornton, CO February 26, 2006

Elijah Wilkinson of Thornton CO (02/26/06)
I opened a secured credit card with First National Bank Of Marin back in 2000. I sent them 99 to open an account with a 300 credit limit.

Over time, I decided that I needed a larger credit limit. I had to send them a money order in the amount of 900 , in order to increase my limit to 1200. I complied.

I cancelled the card in 2003. Or so I thought. I spoke with several people to close the account and get my money back.

Next thing I know, I am sent to collections. So, I have to wage battle with two companies over the validity of the debt. The final blow came just 2 weeks ago, when I learned that I am being sued in order to recover over a 1000 dollars of that supposed debt. How the heck do you owe money with a secure credit card? It's unbelievable.
