ray of morongo valley, CA June 30, 2009 I gave "freecreditreport.com" my credit card number today while they said they were attempting to verify who I was trying to Log-In. When I attempted to get my "free" Credit Report I was informed that I must first agree to a "9" Day Trial period to get credit alerts and if I did not, or was not successful deleting this service, my credit card would be billed immediately for 29.95 for the first month and to expect a like deduction monthly from their on? I called their operator to immediately cancel this service and the service person at "Free Credit Report. Com" informed me that I was successfully removed. I again called them a second time attempting to by-pass their monthly charge of 29.95 to get the "Free" Credit Report they promised! In asking the service-person, again at the same phone number, if the monthly service alert membership was canceled- she informed me that it was still effective and the only way to stop this "monthly service-charge" was to contact them on the ninth day from today, or yesterday, or tomorrow?- she was not clear when I questioned her and it became obvious that she was stroking me in an attempt that I would give-up in frustration and let them make this monthly withdrawal of 29.95 per month. In my attempts to delete their membership by UN-subscribing to their emails- was fruitless and to no avail. I cannot understand how you let a scummier like these people to remain in business? This is a primary reason why America is FAST becoming a second rate world power- gimmie-gimmie-gimmie and screw-you ideology. Please help me get removed from these crooks membership and direct me to make a formal complaint to the proper authorities to stop this false & misleading advertising. George of Charlton, MA June 29, 2009 5 months ago I signed up for the "free" credit report. Little did I know that I would be charged 1.00 per month on a service called "Your Savings Club" which they automatically sign you up. Also they charge you another 1.00 per month as well as 30.00 for "CREDITDIAGNOS". In addition it is your regular charge of 11.95 for "CIC*Credit Monitor". So because I didn't cancel in time, my "FREE" credit report cost me 214.75. Justin of Lawndale, CA June 10, 2009 Freecreditreport.com requires you to enter your information in BEFORE it discloses its terms and conditions. Upon reading all the terms and conditions I simply closed my web browser. I did not click on "agree" to terms and conditions and I did not click on either "no, just give me my free credit report" or "yes, I would like my 27 three credit reports" I simply closed the window. My Credit card was charged for 1 and I wrote customer service reminding them that I did not want and services from freecreditreport.com. The response from Melanie L was: "Thank you for writing. Our records indicate that your account is still in its trial period and your credit card has not been charged for the monthly membership fee. You can view your credit report as many times as you want during the 30 day viewing period by logging on to the website." Timothy of New York, NY June 2, 2009 Last Sept (2008) I went to FreeCreditReport to get a free copy of my credit report. I had to give them my information to get a credit report. I did not receive a credit report. Unbeknown to me, they were charging my account 12/mo since then, a total of 108.00. I just noticed the 12 charge on my bill and called them to complain. Everyone I spoke to did not care that I had been, what I considered, cheated. I had not received a credit report or any services worth 108. I ran a credit report today and promptly called them to cancel my "membership" as they call it. I just feel I was completely misled/lied to and they did not even care. They can keep the 8 which I think is the going rate for a credit report. I feel they cheated me out of approximately 100 since last Sept. I have not been employed since 2004. I have been approved and I will be receiving disability starting in about a month. I cannot afford to be cheated out of 100. Thank you for your attention in this matter. andre of Kalamazoo, MI May 19, 2009 subversively signed me up for a monthly subscription that i had to cancel. email cancellation ignored. billed. 3 phone calls required before cancellation achieved. no reimbursement. only 15, but if i had not checked my cc statement , this could have gone on indefinitely. and this from a company that is supposed to foster financial responsibility? bah!! Linda of Fishers, IN May 12, 2009 I signed up for freecreditreport.com, and stopped service. They kept billing me every month on my credit card. It was itemized 12.95 EVERY MONTH and 14.95/month. This is a scam. Someone needs to take these people to court. It is very misleading, and they have since altered their websit. I believe there is enough evidence out there for a class action lawsuit. When I called them AGAIN, the lady Peggy was very nasty to me. Then she said she would send me a check for 30. I never saw it. This place should be closed down. Obviously if someone offers you a partial refund, you know something is wrong. After I did some digging, I found freecreditreport (scammers) said they belong to Consumerinfo, Inc. an Experian company. It's a joke. I am out 111.60 for this scamming. I hope some legal action comes out of this. I will be reporting them to the BBB Frank of Syracuse, NY May 8, 2009 Thanks for your service and the opportunity to warn consumers about this service and its practice.
Carrie of Powhatan, VA May 5, 2009 In March of 2009 I logged on to freecreditreport.com to obtain a 'free' creit report. I inadvertently was automatically enrolled in a monthly monitoring service as I did not log back on within 7 days to 'cancel' the '7-day free trial'. For the next two months I was charged a service fee of 14.95. When I called to complain and request a refund, I was advised that I had signed on for this service by not logging back in after receiving my credit report and canceling, and my money would not be refunded under any conditions. There should be a law PROHIBITING agencies from deducting monthly fees from your accounts or credit cards without prior notification via mail or email each month. In order to set up automatic withdrawal, people should be able to set this up via paperwork rather than have the deductions taken out without formal permission. It is my belief that freecreditreport.com scams people into 'signing up' for this 'monitoring service' so that they continue to collect fees without the public being aware they are even being charged, and refusing to return those funds once people notice what is going on. The loss of 29.90 could have caused me to be overdrawn, resulting in additional fees and charges, which as a single parent of two children with daycare, rent, utilities, renters and car insurance, medical bills, etc. I cannot afford. KIMBERLY of BALTIMORE, MD May 4, 2009 I was searching online for my so called free credit report, and came across "Free Credit Report of America".After signing up i was told i would have to pay 2.95,so i said that would be fine,it's not that much.I then gave them my bank card information,i recieved my reciept which stated total amount 2.95. A week goes by and i start to see different charges on my bank statement that i didn't make,so i went to my bank to discuss this matter. The bank then called the 1-800 number to see what was going on they told the bank that all of the information was in the fine print that i would be charged for all of these different things.
