Wired Plastic

Byron of Atlanta writes (3/29/03):
A fancy debit card called Wired Plastic is claiming, through affiliate websites and emails, that it builds credit and reports to credit bureaus. It does not and cannot.

I'm just concerned about others who are trying to rebuild credit and pay the absurd fees associated with this card and then learn -- nothing reported to the bureaus.

Byron's right -- it's just a debit card which won't do a thing for anyone's credit. Better to save your money and avoid the fees, which may very well be substantial, as the folks below will tell you.

I have my ss disability payments direct deposited on my wired plastic acct. Over 1 1/2 yrs ago I went to prison and was not in posession of the card and 3200.00 was stolen from me. I did not know this until I got out in May of this year at which time I filed a dispute. I was told that all this money was recoverable because I proved I was incarcerated and could not have spent the money. I was told it could take up to 3 mos. (90)days to receive the money.

I called every 2 weeks to make sure everything was in order and the process was proceeding along as expected and was assured each and every time by representatives and supervisors that everything was in order and I could expect the money at around 85-90 days after the dispute was filed.

8 days prior to the 90 days I called again and they told me that sin ce I didn't file the dispute in time that I was not entitled to the money. I explained agian that I was incarcerated and they said its not our fault you were in prison this is money that I also have to pay back to the government since some of it I waqs not entitled to after being locked up.

This was money I was going to use to rebuild my life and get on my feet after this horrible experience. I now am paying back money to the government that I never received in my possession

Bryan of St. Peters, MO August 6, 2008

Bryan of St. Peters MO (08/06/08)
I had went to a Quick Trip on Thursday the 31st of July 08 for gas. I had used Debit before at the pumps and never had an issue. Well, this time Wired Plastic descides they are not going to release the 100 hold on my account. I know the 100 hold is standard for debit at the pump. Now Quick Trip says they are only supposed to be able to hold it for maybe 2 hours. It is going on a week now.

I called wired plastic and asked them to release the money they told me they will hold it up to 15 days. As of 8/07/08 they still have a hold on my 100 dollars. I even had quick trip send them a fax saying they already received the funds but still Wired plastic will not release it.

I also discussed with them about a fradulent charge I had not authorized. They told me wait for the transaction to go through and then after 15 days you can dispute it but it will take up to 90 day to recover anything. So, according to Wired Plastic I am just supposed to let the crooks steal my money and then try to pursue them and i may or may not recover that money in 90 days. Iam currently preparing to cancelled my service at wired plastic but have to realign my direct deposit and also now all my other bills have to be changed over. I had been with them over 3 or 4 years.

I had an electric bill to pay but could not because of the hold on my 100. I had to personally beg the electric company not to turn off my power until I get paid again. They barely relented gave me 2 days. I have to pray to the gods who are holding my money hostage that they release the funds in 2 days.

Within the 2 or more years i have done business with wired plastic they have had problems with their computers or theirselves duplicating authorizations which had already been settled and paid out! They did this to hold money and make interest on money that was not theirs to take!

One of the times they duplicated almost 300.00 in authorizations at one time leaving me with a negative balance when i should have had about 297.00 or more and my grandmother died that weekend and guess what! I had to miss my own grandmothers funeral because i didnt have the money to buy my plane ticket.

Much to my fault, i kept doing business with them and this problem happened many more times! Well, no more! I am doing like another customer did and cutting my losses and cutting their card and mailing it back to them in pieces like they left me financially many times!
