Match.com

Timothy of Grand Blanc, Mi MI (09/29/08)
An e-mail went out to me informing me of a cancellation of membership. I am an educated person with values, virtues, and morals held in high regard. Every and I mean every e-mail I received was positive and a reminder to me that I was not alone in that respect. In other words, there was NO reason at all for Match.com to cancel my membership because it was for the safety of their Match community.

If anything I was a model member who is very honest, etc. And, like most men on these sites, I did not hunt women and flirt etc., with lies... I'm an attractive, very genuine person that was on the site for the right reasons. I would've hoped that Match.com vested the same interest in keeping their site or billion dollar scam as I've now learned, in the highest quality.

I understand that there are in fact rules necessary to protect citizens on Match that are threatened, etc. The same holds true for anyone, such as me, that was terminated for misinformation about me or slander or possibly NO reason at all. I was terminated however, for the protection of the Match community as they stated. I take that statement VERY personal and it is a direct condemnation of me and my character. that is unacceptable.

I am a victim in that sense and persuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I am entitled to all information regarding the cancellation of the membership to be disclosed to me. It was asked of me by legal@Match.com to send a subpoena to them requesting the information. My attorney stated to me that it wasn't necessary for a subpoena at all. F.O.I.A., he stated, was enough to allow the records/reasons to be released to me.

After several months and documents sent to them, I HAVE HEARD NOTHING at all from them. I intend to legaly pursue any person or persons whether Match.com directly or likewise regarding the tarnishment of my character, slander, or unsubstantiated reasons for the closure of my membership. I don't have any desire to be on ANY site again and this certainly was the last thing I thought would happen to me. I have nothing to hide and even suggested that every one of my e-mails with Match was reviewed and examined by them to prove how complimentary and benign they were. NO RESPONSE!

It is incredible that it was hard enough to show my face on the site let alone to be cancelled for the protection of the Match community. I am appalled and again know that I am not alone in this experience. Match should be held accountable for every action taken on behalf of an innocent victim such as myself.

I had signed up and been charged for a 3 month period with Match.com - There were several problems with the overall online experience, most related to several fake profiles which seem to equal about half of the potential matches. I was dissatisfied with match.com however I did not request a refund, I simply canceled my auto renewal option and thought that would be the end of that.

On 09/10/08 a mandatory evacuation was called for the area I live in due to Hurricane IKE. I had to evacuate and as a result I was without electricity or internet access from 09/11 to 09/23. I was shocked to see that I had been charged on 09/19 for match.com and so I sent them an email explaining that this was in their error and regardless of that fact, I was under a mandatory evacuation for a federally declared disaster area. There was absolutely no way I could check on my account to insure I was not charged.

I received an email that basically said they have an absolutely No Refund Policy - I then sent them 2 other emails further explaining how they were in the wrong and were in fact breaking federal law by charging me. That was 3 days ago, I had not received a reply so I filed a compliant with the Governor of Texas, My bank, and the BBB (they have their phone BTW) and then called them to see what was happening with my refund. I was told that it had been forwarded to another department to determine if I was eligible for refund (apparently their no refund policy is a lie) You can contact that department directly using the email executiveteam@support.match.com. I was told to email them for more information and as of Sept 29, I haven't heard any reply.

If this isn't resolved I have already contacted my bank, and according to them I can write a full account of what happened, and they may reverse the charge.

63.93 - At a time when I just spent over 500 on evacuation, this small amount meant the difference between eating a healthy meal, or spending hours in line at the food stamp office. They have cost me endless hours wasted pursuing this refund not to mention the financial stress this has put on me during a time of natural disaster.

Someone stole my debit card number to open an account. This has just happened yesterday and I happened to catch the charge before it posted. I attempted to find a contact number for this company and there is none listed except a long distance number to the PR department in Texas. I sent an email to alert them of the problem but no one has contacted me. I intend to use the phone number to the PR department and see what if anything this accomplishes.

Beware of the 3 Day Free Trial. When I accepted this promotion they immediately charged my account for the full amount. I called to question this and the consultant would not let my speak to a superviser and was not understanding or apologetic at all. The consultant stated that there was a no refund policy when this was their error and breach of the promotion.

I had to fight tooth and nail to get my money back and they tried to dissuade me from doing this by stating that I would not receive the free trial if I was granted a refund. I was so disgusted with them at this point I didn't care nor did I wish to use their services any longer.
