My experience is not a situation of poor referrals, but totally non-existent service when I requested my membership cancellation.
OK, so I made the mistake of signing up in the first place, but I saw the 3-day cancellation option when I was being pressured into the membership so I literally paid to get out of the office. I planned to just cancel.
The next day I went back to the TRO office, saw the same woman, and asked which address was the right address to send my cancellation request to since there were two listed. I wrote a letter explaining that I wished to exercise my right (per the sales contract) to cancel my membership, sent 2 copies of this letter w/photocopies of my sales contract & installment contract to both addresses by certified mail. They arrived in 2 business days and I was notified by the USPS by e-mail since I had paid for the option. That was a month ago.
Perhaps this sight will allow me to come back later & update my progress or lack thereof.

I have only been given a few referrals, which have led nowhere.
I have called TRO 3 times and each time a rep would tell me they would call me back. I called again today to find out what my options were to end this situation. Because I signed a contract, I am limited to putting my name on hold and I will not receive any calls (no problem there as I did not receive any calls to begin with) or continuing to have referrals sent to me.
Hard lesson to learn. The red flags were going up the whole time TRO reps were talking to me.

I was coerced into signing a contract with the Right One for their dating service. They breached their contract and are trying to get money from me. The total was for 2700.00 of which they only got 700.00. I have the original contract and a story in simalar lengths to your displayed complaints.

Corced into signing a contract I did not want to enter into. The company held onto my personal I.D. and two credit cards. I attempted to leave without singing anything but after being a few miles away, I had to return because they still had my I.D. and credit cards. My personal cards were held until they charged 100.00 deposit to it.
This occurred on a Sunday afternoon. Within two (2) hours after signing, I called and notified them that I did not wish to do it and cancel the contract. They had sufficient time to stop any background checks the first thing on Monday morning. Instead, the company continued to run background check the following day which was completed on Tuesday.
They were already paid 100.00 which is suffient to run background check. They are still looking to get paid an additional 1,400.00.
Fraud has been committed. They are threatening to ruin my credit and sue me.
A complaint has also been filed with the Better Business Bureau. I have found out that in a short period of time, this company has been reported to BBB for at least fourteen cases of fraud and corcement.
It has been recommended by the BBB that I also file a complaint with Consumer Affiars. Valarie D. Bloom of Huntingdon Valley, PA April 10, 2007
I was solicited via the internet for a Christian dating service on Friday, April 6, 2007.
The fee schedule and contract actually came AFTER I had been made a member (when) filling out my expection & preference form & list. Janet explained that the monies would not be presented at least until the later part of the week, and that my background investigation would not start until the initial deposit had cleared the bank. All of which would be after the money was sent and transmitted through their Cherry Hill, New Jersey location. On Sunday, I immediately called both the King of Prussia and Cherry Hill locations and left v-mail message expressing my uneasiness and decision NOT to use their service. I called and spoke with Susan. I explained to Susan that I was calling to get a fax number to that location, so that I could send a letter of no interest to both that office (NJ) and PA. I get call from Adam in NJ who was welcoming me as a member. My bank has agreed NOT to pay any charges that may come in through this dating service, however, I was instructed that they would put me in collection for not paying their 2,700+ administrative fees. Mind you, there have been NO background checks or any such work done. Please help!

i went in on 11/18/06 and was coerced into giving them 1500 for a pkg of 10 quality referrals and two extra ones (if desired). i was asked what i would spend to find the love of my life? i am a single parent and 1500 was actually more than I could afford but I did/do want to find the right one. however, I have have had only one date as a result of this company. I called the main number and asked for a refund. They told me that they are working on getting me more referrals but was having trouble because I am 5'8 and most guys are shorter - give me a break!

After nearly an hour of explaining the program they finally got around to the price and I told them I couldn't/wouldn't pay that. For two more hours they pressured and hassled me to sign up, taking advantage of my own fear or worries to make it difficult to turn them down. They acted nice about it, claiming they were willing to work with me to bring down the price, which they did...but I was still trying to say no. I couldn't get out of the office without signing a contract.
After I left, I was told that Kansas law said I have 3 days to change my mind about a contract. So I returned only 30 minutes after I left and told them I wanted my money back. They were pretty reluctant to do so, saying they'd have to get back to me in a few days (which would run out the 3 day time period). I told them I would call the police and started to do so and then they were quite quick about giving me back my money. But the fact that they pressured me and I had to resort to the police to get my refund should be reported!
I did get my money back, but it was a very emotionally traumatic experience, as after I told them no the first time, they pressured me even when I cried and said NO. Georganne of Waxahachie, TN December 15, 2006
My experience has been EERILY similar to the other ones mentioned here! I joined The Right One in June of this year. In our first meeting I answered the question as to the frequency I would like to have referrals, and I indicated that every couple of weeks would be good, and that any less often would be too seldom. I was assured that whatever I wanted was great, and that I could have one sent every day if I wanted. My instinct was sending up red flags which I ignored because I was trying to be open.
After I left this appointment, a staffer called to "offer" me an upgrade at a discount, and I then felt I had participated in one of those time-share sales pitches or encountered a used car salesman trying to sell an add-on. With the 3700 fee for 10 matches, I did expect a quality and class operation. Wrong! It also seems that they fit the cost to whatever they expect people can pay them, and adjust it accordingly. He demanded that I put down on the form how much I had in my accounts, which I STUPIDLY did.
Since I joined, I have had two phone calls with referrals. The first was NOT of my political persuasion at all, and did not fit the preferences that I had selected, and seemed a bit of a head case. The second was not of particular interest to me although he seemed nice. I called to request more frequent matches and have not heard back, and obviously two referrals in this time frame is definitely not what I was told or anticipated, and is quite ridiculous.

The Right One has consistently failed to conduct business in a professional and responsible manner and by the high standards implied by; the cost of membership, declared during the interview and as advertised on the webpage. Additionally, I was misinformed and misled, and out right lied to during the interview process. During this process I was given a verbal guarantee that I would receive twenty referrals within one year and not over a period of time longer than a year. At the time of the interview I was also told that the Right One had currently available at least five or six referrals who where compatible to my profile and that I met their "criteria."
However, over the course of the year I have met two referrals. Another complaint involves the hefty cost of my membership. During the interview I was told that there is one rate for all memberships. I specifically asked if different options where available and was again told that it is a flat rate for all members; yet I learned that different types/levels of memberships do indeed exist. The Right One did not take ownership of the mismanagement of my membership. Additionally, they consistently conducted business in an unethical, non professional and questionable legal manner. I consider the Right One of Hackensack a danger to the public and a fraudulant company.
Loss a hefty amount of money. My membership was 8,900 (stupid and embarrasing) through arbitrationI was awarded 6,700. It took close to 2 yrs and constantly calling to receive my refund. Joan of Boca Raton, FL October 26, 2006
I joined The Right One in June, 2003 in the hope of meeting a compatible mate. I paid in full 2390.00 and was promised 9 appropriate referrals. One thing that I stressed was that the match had to be a family man and accept my young daughter. Four months went by without a date: After many phone calls and a letter requesting a full refund ,a date was finally found. We went out once to a lovely restaurant but he was not interested in pursuing a relationship. Two more dates followed and one grew into a relationship which ended in 10/05.
I took my membership off hold in November, 2005 and was told the the office I had signed up with had closed and my file had been sent to Together Dating in WestPalm Beach: Another year has gone by and not one date. After several phone calls to that company, I was told that they took my folder as a courtesy and was not obligated to help me. I was then referred to another branch of the Right One in Miami. We set up an appointment, in the beginning of October which I had to cancel. I have made 3 subsequent phone calls and have left messages to re-schedule with no response.
2390.00 is a lot of money for a single mother to pay out but I was willing to take a chance: All I have dealt with is broken promises and frustration. As a professional woman, I was hoping they would helpme with my quest, but all I have received is more work and disappointment and nonviable companion.
