The Right One

margaret of kamas, UT July 18, 2009

I joined this dating site and paid a huge fee. To this point they have tried to match me up with (1) a sex offender who has charges pending. (2) A man who bragged about wanting to shoot a previous girl friends boy friend. (3) A man who upon the very first meeting tried to molest me chasing me clear around his front room. (4) I could go on and on and have had nothing but negative experiences. This company could not be following the guidelines they state. This company uses false advertising and is defrauding their clients.

Kris of madison, WI July 15, 2009

This was a dating service I only looked in to. I never signed anything and told them it was much too expensive for me. This was over 3 years ago. They keep calling me!!! I don't want to join and I don't want any "follow up" phone calls. This has become extremely frustrating.

Diane of Clearfield, UT July 11, 2009

Specifically, I purchased services from the above business in Sale Lake City to interview, evaluate, process, and market on my behalf and provide referrals for dating and possible relationships. I paid a substantial amount of money for 25 referrals. These referrals would be names of persons who are most nearly compatible to me as indicated in the data that I provided the The Right One.

The paperwork I was given assured me that I would be matched at least once a month with a possibility of 2 referrals a month. All referrals have to be approved by me to count towards my membership agreement.

Since I joined in Nov of 2007, I have been given five (5) names with a brief description, which appeared to be suitable. After very short meetings, none of these five (5) were compatible and I don't understand how the match could have been made by valid criteria that I provided.

It has been one (1) year and eight (8) months since I have joined. I have provided the required feedback to help them in providing matches. I have complied with their request to contact their office if I was unhappy with my membership. Hence, I am very unhappy with the lack of service that I have received from The Right One and their un-kept promises of providing matches according to the agreements that were made between us.

On June 29, 2009, I filled out a complaint on this website. In fairness, I need to supplement that complaint. Since that time the owner of the company personally contacted me and more than satisfied my concerns. In fact, he insisted upon going beyond what I was even asking for. In hindsight, I believe my dispute revolved around a personality conflict with a single employee and I am confident that my concerns will be addressed with that individual. Ultimately, after speaking to the owner, I would recommend this service without reservation.

Brett of Park City, UT June 29, 2009

I was skeptical of this service so I insisted on a money-back guarantee. I was orally told that I could receive a full refund at any time if I was not satisfied. The written agreement provides that even after I met all seven people that were included in my contract, I could still get a full refund. It does not say I am required to meet all seven people before getting a refund.

After the initial introduction, I knew that this was not the service for me. Therefore, I requested a full refund and I was told I had to wait until all introductions had been made. I might have been ok with this except the service waits months to provide introductions, in an apparent attempt to delay years before giving a refund. I also felt that it was not fair to the women I was meeting, who were being charged a substantial amount of money for the introduction, where I was convinced by the company’s conduct that I was not interested (an it would save the company time and resources to avoid making the introductions only to have me request a refund later). I am guessing that the company adopts this strategy of delay because a lot of people give up and the company ends up keeping the money.

I am an attorney. I just filed a small claims action for my own contract.

It is alarming that a business dealing in "heartstrings" would be so cold to its clients when they do not get referrals as promised, and have no financial ramifications.

Additionally, what they do not tell you when you are in the meeting is that the "paper" you sign is a legal document and after three days you are bound legally. It is not easy to withdrawl once you have singed-- you have to go have it postmarked by midnight of the third day. Why does noone tell you that? It seems extremely sneaky ...and sneaky means not good.

I was a hair away from joining, but the website seems very old and outdated, and perfectmatch.com seems just as good; albeit much less expensive and frustrating. I think that when folks plop down 1000.00, especially in today's economy, they want some sort of gaurantee. And the Right One offers none.

Teri of Thornton, CO June 19, 2009

I previously posted a complaint on this site about this company nearly a year ago. Nothing has improved since then. Nearly a year later, I see all these same-story complaints posted here. What is being done about this scam outfit? I haven't received a referral in months and the referrals I received before that were not remotely compatible. I already filed a complaint w/ the BBB a year ago, and I am going to reopen my case with the BBB. I VERY MUCH WOULD LIKE TO BE CONTACTED BY AN ATTORNEY TO PURSUE THIS MATTER.

I am a secretary earning enough money to live paycheck to paycheck, struggling to make the monthtly payments to my credit card to pay off the 5,000 that was stolen from me when I was emotionally vulnerable and in need of the hope they "promised".

Peggy of Payson, UT June 16, 2009

I joined this dating service to the tune of 3500.00 approximately 2 years ago. They did not live up to their end of the contract and give no refunds!!!! I asked to not be contacted again after the last person they set me up with "overweight, on oxygen, wore sweats, flip flops and was in much need of a bath"....does this sound like someone you would want to date? I don't think so!

I explained this to them but they weren't the least sympathetic. Recently they have contacted me again telling me that they have changed their services and would like for me to stop by the office. The person who signed me up left the company about 2 weeks after I was signed up; probably with my money!!! I haven't tried to do anything about the money because I figured I have learned my lesson "big time". I just wanted to report their service. Thank you. Loss of approximately 3500.00. I was set up with about 9 men before I opted out. Also, I don't have any of the paperwork to prove I paid, etc. I'm sure they have this on file, but with a lawsuit my file will probably disappear.

Susan of Temecula, CA June 15, 2009

I paid 4000 back in March of 2006 for this dating service. After a year and a half of being given referrals that were not a match, I received a number of letters telling me that they had no one currently. I wrote to them last year and tried to end my relationship with them and get some of my money back. They proceeded to tell me that I had signed their contract.

My point to them is that they did not stick to their contract and since they didn't have anyone to refer, then they should be agreeable to end my contract with a partial refund...a Win Win situation. In Jan. of 2008 I wrote a letter to them to try and end my relationship with them as I had not heard a word (even having paid for a Personal Asst--VIP treatment)I have been receiving phone calls from a person who was referred to me and I believe that since I was told that the contract was for three years that mine has expired as I began in March of 2006. I was supposed to have 20 referrals over that three year period.

I've had around thirteen or fourteen (and none of them were matches). I've learned my lesson!
