Somehow this collection agency got my ex-wifes address and is trying to collect a medical debt I apparently have but not aware of. They told her that if she doesn't pay my debt, it will go against her credit. It appears that the debt is from this year and we have been divorced for over 3 years. I called them and told them that and asked them to send the bills to me and put it on my credit. They ststed that they can't. They yelled at me as well. My ex-wife is learning about my medical history and I don't want her to know about my medical issues. Isn't this illegal? I asked them for what hospital the money is owed and they can't even tell me where it is from.

Brian of Springboro, OH March 31, 2005

On Monday March 28, 2005, I received a call from a representative from NCO about a debt that CitiBank was attempting to collect. The representative sounded as though he may be new to company because he kept putting me on hold to speak with his supervisor (which was not fault of his own). I agreed to make a 400 payment but they would not accept it. They offered either to accept and 18000.00 payment in one lump sum or in three separate payment. None of which I could afford. His supervisor go onto the phone ( I did not get his name I believe it was Steve but his direct phone line is 888-487-1479). We reached an agreement that I would post-date a check on my back account for 1184.00 for Friday 01 Apr 2005 and then there would be monthly payments on the 27 of each month for 300.00 up until July. That was fine with me because I would have the amount in the bank on the 1st.

I logged into my bank account on 30 Mar 2005 and they have cashed the check on this date instead of the 1st as agreed to on the 28th of March. I called the supervisor bank, and he refused to assist me in this problem. I accused him of lying to me. When he asked “did I have anything in writing”, I informed him no but there is the tape of the conversation which he refused to speak to me about. When asked about the funds being removed from account before the agreed upon time, stated that it was not under his purview even though he set up and agreed upon the conditions. I then informed him that he was lying to me and that I see hwy they have so many federal charges and complaints filed against them. When I asked to speak to his supervisor, he yelled that “he was the supervisor”, I stated that was not good enough and to let me speak to his boss. He then hung up on m

My account for Capital One was turned over to this collection agency to try and collect a debt. I have been called by the agency's representatives everyday, sometimes three times a day. I keep telling them I haven't worked in 7 months because of a broken ankle and I later lost my job. This has caused me to fall behind with my payments, but it seems as tho they don't hear me they just keep calling daily. These people call me threating to charge of my account and ruining my credit for 7-15 yrs. I have filed a consumer protection insurance claim but I can't seem to get that taken care of either. This is harassment for sure. Please tell me how I can stop them from calling me everyday.

Collection agency in reference to medical charges we owe totaling about 5700. We set up a payment plan of 200 per month. I requested that a statement be sent EACH month, showing balance and amount paid to each creditor. This would be the only written record I would have of the account. The company has stopped sending the monthly statements, after a few months and now refuse to send anymore, citing their system is unable to be "set up" for it. I have also contested one of the claims, but they will not tell me if any of my payments have gone to that account.

Except for that one contested claim, the remaining debts are valid and we will pay them. Our concerns are that the company refuses to comply with the request and we receive no paperwork to show the balances. We don't have much experience with collectors, but they seem to be the typical heavy-handed type, using mild threats in an attempt to intimidate. Our position is that they continue to send monthly statements until the debt is paid.

10 years ago I had an account with a utility company in Maryland. (Allegheny Power) I moved after college and began my career in the US military. My contact information, and permanent address has always been available to anyone that wished to contact me to send me a bill. I have not heard from either Allegheny Power or the collection agency they sold the account to for the past 10 years until March of 2004. When they placed the first phone call to me they said I must pay 713.46 within 6 days (including a Sunday) or the information would be sent to credit reporting agencies. They refused to send an actual document via US postal service or via FAX. We were willing to pay if the debt could be proven, obviously. One of the representatives from NCO told us that the debt included 263.00 in interest accrual. I requested a fax, so that I could see visible evidence of the debt. "Tanya" agreed to do so, and said the fax should arrive in 3 to 5 days.

After 5 days I contacted her and she, without apology, told me that I'd been waiting in vain because they "can't" fax documents, they can only send via the US Postal service. They had not, alternatively, mailed us the information. Another Representative reduced the debt by that amount, and said we could pay the 440. to clear the debt. I requested a written document stating this agreement. None could be faxed, and although they promised to mail a bill, two months went by without them doing so. Another representative,"Tanya", later told us that the 713.46 did not include any interest that had accrued; and that the amount was the exact amount of the original debt. We called the original debtor, Allegheny power, and they could not verify this.

On May 28th I received a letter from "Leading Edge Recovery Solutions" stating that we owe their client, NCO, 713.46 for a debt on an account that NCO purchased from Allegheny Power. They stated that we may not contact Allegheny Power "as they may not have information readily available based on the sale of this account." We had contacted Allegheny Power in March, as soon as we received the first phone call and discovered, through very helpful individuals, that they in fact have NO information on my account, the amount owed, or even an account number. I have a lot more information concerning comments, names, phone numbers and extensions, if needed. We are sending a letter of dispute, because they have misrepresented the amount of the debt, and have lied to us.

NCO is a third party collection agency for Sprint. I paid the open balance in full with check 0267 with Ms Peters on 4/12/04. I followed up with her on 5/11/04 and she told me the check was being processed. I called Sprint on 5/20/04 and they had not recieved any payments from NCO on my behalf. I called NCO and was told by Mr. Brown and then later by Ms Rogers that my check had been destroyed as of 4/19/04 because Sprint closed the account with NCO.

When I asked for a letter stating that my personal check was destroyed, I was yelled at an hung up on by Mr. Brown. I filed a complaint with Ms Rogers who refused to send me documentation verifying that my check has been destroyed by NCO. Her attitude was defensive in regards to sending me a letter letting me know my account status wiht NCO and cavalier about the way i was spoken to by Mr Brown.
