My Debt Relief Network

Mindy of El Paso, TX August 3, 2009

I received a message on my answering machine that stated that she was looking at my records in her database and could see that she could save me 50% on my credit card payments and get me out of debt faster. I called back to find out what records they were looking at since I have no credit card debt, we have one credit card and it is paid off every month. She began to dance around the question and said that my credit card company had given them a phone number that said that we had an unsecured credit card, it did not tell them how much debt we had or did not have,so when I brought up the message on my answering machine yet again she said "No ma'am we never say that we can or can not help someone with any specifics only that we might be able to help you".

When I tried to explain to her that the message I had on my machine stated that someone was looking at my records in their database, she talked over the top of me which made me speak louder to try and make myself heard over her talking and then she said " you don't need to yell at me" and she hung up on me. I wasn't intentionally yelling at her, but she kept talking when I was trying to explain to her what had happened, so she clearly was not in any mood to listen to me and when I asked to speak to her supervisor, she said that she was the supervisor and I said "you must have a supervisor, I would like to speak to that person" she said "there's no one available that I can let you talk to."

Theresa of Santa Rosa, CA June 22, 2009

Julie left me two msgs one on my cell and home number stating that she can reduce my credit card interest rate. She indicates she has my credit records in front of her and to call her to she can help me pay off my debt quicker and less interest. I called the number that was given to me and a lady answer the line. I ask to speak to Julie she indicates that she is on the other line. I proceded to tell her that I received a call from Julie.

The lady on the other line ask if I owe over 10,000. I state I am not sure what card you have and I wanted to talk to Julie about this. She asks me again do I owe over 10,000 in credit card charges. I state the same thing again what credit card do you have. She tells me that she only has a my name and phone number and they don't have any information. I wanted to ask another questions and she hangs up the phone on my ear.

I want the others to know about this scam and help others not give out information that they don't have.

Craig of Brooklyn, NY July 10, 2009

Got a computer call about assistance with debt. Ok, I can get some information. Then, a rep gets on the line who immediately identifies them as a non-profit organization. She started firing questions at me as if I asked to fill out an application. She was trying to keep me from asking any questions When I finally got her to stop and listen, she said they work for law firms.

Now I'm confused and asked what they really are. I know that legal services are available through non-profit organizations, but I don't know of any non-profit "law firms". It just didn't sound credible. She said that she had to refer me to an agent who could answer all of my questions (that after the recording said I would be connected to such a person in the first place).

A man got on the line. I asked him to tell me exactly what they are and how they work. He stated that they are a legal referral service and work for law firms. Of course, then I asked "How are you funded as a non-profit organization?". He said they are funded by "many companies". Ok, which or what kind of companies? His answer, "We don't know. That's why we just tell people 'many companies'"

Conclusion: Lawyer want fees up front with no guarantee of the outcome. I don't need a lawyer's lead generating service masquerading as a non-profit help organization to find a attorney, if I want one. They don't work for the customer (potentionally me) so how can my best interest be anywhere in the picture?

I talked to a company called Lifeguard Financial and it was a totally different story. they guy told me how everything works, what I should expect as for as what would happen to my credit through their debt settlement program. They where clear about how they get paid and there were no upfront fees or hidden charges. Every time I called my guy or the customer service, they gave me what I asked for or answered my questions.

Debt Relief Network is scary.
