Anne of Orange, CA April 16, 2009
Anne of Orange CA (04/16/09) I have a senior citizen at home who is able to receive packages when they are delivered. UPS, DHL, no problem..but FedEx can't seem to get it right. A few months ago, I had a delivery. The first attempt failed. The senior citizen said that she never heard the doorbell. I signed for them to leave the package, but got more failed attempts and had to take off work to pick up my package. Today was incredibly frustrating. Yesterday, FedEx posted a note for delivery failure. But the senior at home heard the driver! She hustled down the stairs and by the time she got to the door, the truck was gone! Now I say senior, but this woman walks 5 miles a day, so it's not terrible difficult to get to the door.
Today, I stayed home. I went into the garage, door open to hear the bell or a knock, 8 minutes later I come back (and I mean 8 minutes) and there's another sticker-no delivery. No I don't want them to leave an expensive item at the doorstep. I call the 800 gofedex and they are useless. I say. Hey the sticker is from 6 minutes ago. If you contact the driver, he can redeliver today. They can't contact drivers. How insane is that. There's no way to contact an employee? Well I did a little research and found that these drivers are independent contractors. They're worked like dogs and FedEx gets richer.
I have no idea if I'll get my package because I can't seem to get to the door in the 2.7 seconds the driver waits to see if we're home. I now have a standard note to contact any business online that I want to order from and ask if they use FedEx ground. If they can't switch to a different delivery firm for my package then I'll have to do business elsewhere.
I've lost a day at work (which nowadays is risky - I could get laid off) and I can't be home another day. I might as well have driven the 500 miles to get my package from the vendor. Jessica of Herndon, VA April 12, 2009
Jessica of Herndon VA (04/12/09) I ordered a computer from Dell, through tracking number, I know the package would be delivered on Sat. I had been waiting for a whole morning, left the door of my room open in order to hear the door bell. Around 2 pm, I checked the website, found out the delivery today is marked as unsuccessful attempt. I called the FedEx 800 number immediately, the representative contactd the driver. The driver said that he indeed saw cars on driveway, he knocked on the door ( why didn't he use the door bell?), nobody answered, so he assumed nobody was at home and left.
I asked why he didn't use the doorbell? It is a house, and nobody is able to hear his knock. The representative told me that the driver would try to deliver the package from 4pm to 8pm in the evening. Of course, it never happened. I called the 800 number again in the evening, this time a supervisor answered my call. He talked like a machine gun,in a very fast speed, doesn't give you time or opportunity to talk.I had to ask him to stop talking several times, so I can explain my case. He told me that I have to wait at home on next Tuesday for the package, the time for delivery? he doesn't know.Do I have a fulltime job as he does? Or leave a note to ask the driver to left the package there. I told him it is a 1000 computer, it is unsafe to do in that way, because FedEx claim they are not responsible for the loss of the package in such situation. Basically his attitude is this is company policy, like it or not.
I have been staying at home, waiting for the package from 8am until 8pm, dare not to leave the house, dare not to take a nap, checked the front door multiple times, listen to any sound may sound like a doorbell or knock. My whole day is ruined. C. of Bethesda, MD April 10, 2009
C. of Bethesda MD (04/10/09) Ordered an iPod from Apple. Did not check, waive signature-my mistake. Fedex tried to deliver at 9 am, I was at work and called Fedex at about 3 to request an afternoon delivery, they said they would deliver after 4:30. I goot home the next day and there was a not on my door delivery attempter 9:20. Called the second time and the person said she would look into it and call me back-she never did, after an hour I called again, this person said (here''s the second lie) that they could not deliver it in the afternoon, because Apple had paid to have it delivered before 10:30 in the morning. She als said I could pick it up. I asked where the place was but it was too far from my house.
So the next day I stayed home in the morning for my before 10:30 delivery. Around ( the phone rang, I picked it up after 2 rings and the perosn hung up. I hit call back & it was Fedex. I guess calling to see if I was there. I went through several people, it turns out the woman yesterday, who lied about the 10:30 pick up, also had the iPod pulled from the truck, I assume spitefully. Finally I got a menager who had the grace to be embarassed by the terrible performance, but could only offer to have it put on a truck for the afternoon. I do not beleive her because they have lied straight ahead. I'm now waiting to see if it ever shows up.
I lost a morning at wok and the delivery is three days delayed. Melinani of El Paso, TX April 9, 2009
Melinani of El Paso TX (04/09/09) The first incident was when my husband was deployed, I am a military wife . I had just delivered my son he was three days old. I got home just in time for a glider that I bought to be delivered by Fedex. The day it was supposed to come they never delivered it. I called they said they had the wrong address and couldnt change it , I would have to call who I bought it from to change the address. I called the company I bought the glider from and they said they gave fedex the right address to begin with and gave fedex a call anyway, who claimed to have now fixed the situation. Needless to say within the next few days still no glider. I had to go down to the fedex store with my newborn still recovering from childbirth pick up the gilder by myself and bring it home!
The second incident: I live in a duplex that was remodeled into a one family home so one side of our house has a gate that leads to the back yard and basement. The other side is our garage , there is no front door to the house at all. On the side with our 12 foot Iron gate there are numerous signs saying DO NOT DELIVER anything to this side of the house instead please go to the garage because we do not use this side of the house. We have our mailbox, and a doorbell next to the garage as well as a little place to put deliveries. Today I got a delivery from fedex on the garage side with no problem.
Later this evening we had strong winds and my husband went to check something on the basement side of the house, there was a box that was sun washed that had been thrown over the 12 foot gate. He brought it into the house and when we opened it , it was Gourmet cheese I had ordered! Needless to say the cheese is bad now. I called fedex and complained only to learn it had been delivered 4 days before. I use the term delivered lightly, I should say thrown over our 12 foot Wall/cast iron gate! The cheese came in glass jars with oil in it. None of the glass had broken thank goodness but why would a fedex person throw something over a 12 foot cast iron gate with a sign in front of him saying to deliver to another side of the house?
My order of Gornet cheese was spoiled! M of Canton, MS April 4, 2009
M of Canton MS (04/04/09) Every single time I get packages delivered using fed ex, they come days late and every day I check the tracking status and it says attempted delivery. I do not work outside of the home and am here every week day and have a security system that shows every single person or vehicle that enters our property. On this delivery, yesterday and today it says they attempted delivery. That is such a lie and I had 4 people working outside all day today.
The consequences are when you order online and are expecting a delivery you paid for, you want it the day it is supposed to get here. I am going to get the drivers name and do everything I can to get him in whatever trouble possible. I shop 80% online and fed ex causes much mental anguish for me.
