Postal Service May Seek Service Cut
Movie Fans Suspect Foul Play at the Post Office

Michelle of Berkley, MI May 28, 2009

I mailed wedding invitations on 5/26/09 which contained, invitation, response card, response envelope, and hotel information. On 5/27/09, I received 5 empty response envelopes in the mail. They were bundled with a rubber band and attached was a sticker stating that they were delivered with no contents. My local post office, where I mailed the invitations, directed me to call the Madison Heights postal office.

I was told by two people that there was nothing that they could do. The envelopes were either destroyed or the contents fell out. I asked how they could now assist me...nothing. I suggested that I could write a letter to all my guests explaining the problem and mail the letter at no cost to me. Complaint Department stated that they could not do this. I do not know which 5 people on my list will not get an invition unless I contact all of them. I am very upset that the post office not only ruined some of my wedding invitations, but am more upset over their attitude. They could have cared less. I never even received an apology. Rather, I was met with arrogance and rudeness!

Lisa of Moses Lake, WA May 15, 2009

I shipped a cell phone priority mail in a usps flat rate box. the box was completely smashed in shipping and the contents were removed. the receiver got an empty box with usps tape on it that said "received in damaged condition". The buyer did a chargeback on his credit card. I am now out 150. I had no control over the package once it left my possession.

Regina of Mongaupvalley, NY May 11, 2009

On April 28th I went to Mongaupvalley Post Office to inquire about sending a package to Gateway. I asked her if she thought I should use the Post Office or UPS because I was unsure I never sent a package before I dont even mail out my bill I do it threw my debit card. I brought my receipt with me and on the back of it was the address with all the information that Shree from Gateway gave me to send my package succesfully or at least I thought. She then asked me were it was going and I told her to Texas. She said she thought the post office would be beneficially for me. I then began to tell her I needed three inch bubble wrap and a box. So she did she gave me three inch bubble wrap and a box and I told her I would package it up at home put all the information on the front and bring it back to her.

I went back to her on May 4th put the box on the counter and went to check my mail. There was a slip for me to pay my box for either six months or a year. We started talking about how the prices are going up, post office in Monticello cut ther hours, food pantries and just ecomies how hard it is. So I told her I think I will do the year on the box since I was only paying 10.80 for the shipping I thought that was cheap. She said ok printed me up my bill told me to hold on to the receipt I told her have a great day and left. She NEVER mentioned insurance to me. Not once but neither did Shree from Gateway so I still at this point thought I was doing the right thing. Keep in mind I only sent the computer back for the CD door kept opening and shutting. You shut it it would open very anoying. On May 7th I received a call from Gateway telling me the computer was going to cost 400 for the damage of the screen. I called them back and told there customer service department that I did not send my computer in for the screen, I sent it in for the side CD door kept opening and closing and the computer would not come on. He then told me I would have to speak to the party I shipped it threw because the screen was damaged. He asked me if I insuraced it I told him how I sent it and that I thought it was insurared with the package. He asked if I paid extra not sure what he was talking about he explained to me and then I got very upset telling him noone told me nothing. Not the post office or the rep I spoke to the first time about insurance.

He told me to hold on came back and told me he was going to send me to the second level of complaint and to calm down everything was going to be ok. I explained my story to another gentelmen and he flat out told me I had to go threw the Post Office because they were responsible. I then asked him why his company did not send me the proper tags and packaging to send it back to them and he said the customer is responsible for the shipping to them and there responsible for the shipping to the customer. I told him none of this was explained to me and that maybe they should add that in there blurb when there employees read it from the paper. I told him not to only blame the post office because they never explained the insurance coverage either. He told me that he was sorry and there was nothing he could do that I basically should have known how to send a package. I asked him to please stop saying sorry and explained I spent another 10 on the warrenty coverage and he told me that he was unsure what that was and maybe I should take the computer back to Walmart for them to deal with the damages that he was unsure.

Walmart does not take the computers back after 15days they said it has to go directly to the company. I bought it January 28, 2009. He said he was sorry and he really could not help me I asked if he was done he said yes I told him to send my laptopp back to me and that I would deal with the rest. So here it it May 11, 2009 and noone has contacted me about anything not the post office or Gateway. Not only are they sending me a broken laptopp back but I havnt heard from anyone.

I sent a package of my late husband's pictures and mementos from Texas to Maine. The package finally arrived three weeks later, but it was completely empty. My husband died 4 months ago and I am so saddened to think that someone couldn't have picked up these precious pictures and mementos and placed them back in the box again. I did not insure the package and the local post office said the package came empty and they can't do anything about it. I still have the empty box with message from USPS that they apologize for the damaged? items.

I am to have a memorial service on the 31st of May 2009. I miss my husband so. I have lost him and now I have lost his memories.

Mailed a package to an APO with a Wii Fit and a Rock Band 2 for Playstation 3. When the package arrived the bottom was cut and the Wii Fit was gone. I went and saw Mr. G on December 16th 2008 to file a claim. I called him in February and he told me that he would file it again. March 5 I called him again and then took him copies of all the papers I had so that he could fax them. He told me that he has faxed these papers. The claims department still has no claim on file for me.

I then called the claim department and complained. I had a lady by the name of Sherry call me and told me to fax her all the papers I had. I faxed her copies of the papers on March 20th at 0714am. I called on April 1st to check the status of my claim and again there is nothing filed. Now I am being told that I didn't get the right paperwork filled out and that I need to call another number. I called that number and it is automaded and no one to speak to. I just want the money back for the item that I insured. I am tired of getting the run around by the postal service.

I paid for insurance on my package. I want my 98.00 for the one item that was missing out of my package.
