Movie Fans Suspect Foul Play at the Post Office

Natasa  of San Franicsco CA (06/07/06)
I moved to  San Francisco in Sept 2005 from Boston MA. On this new address, I would estimate that about 1/3 of my mail is not being delivered to me. This includes both the mail forwarded from my Boston address, and the mail addressed directly to my new San Francisco address. This has also included a lot of financial mail (bank statements, credit card statements, personal checks from a tenant to whom I am renting the apartment in Boston), tax-related mail and some important documents. Some of this mail has been returned to senders, and some of it has been apparently delivered to somebody else (for example, in the lobby of my apartment building in San Francisco, there is a large heap of junk mail and misdelivered mail. In this heap, with a delay of several weeks, I recently found my fairly substantial federal tax refund check).

I complained about this to the local USPS supervisor, without any result. What else can I do to have my mail delivered to me? I wish to emphasize once again: misdelivery or loss of my mail, or returning to sender (despite correct address) has not happened occasionally, but has been happening practically every day.

Major potential for identity theft, and financial theft (my financial documents and tax-related documents, with my social security number and various other identifying information, are apparetnly being delivered to somebody else); potential for loss of various kinds of important mail.

Marie of Alviso CA
My complaint is not so much about the service that I received from a postal employee, it is about the U.S. Postal Service charging the people in our city of Alviso to get our mail. I don't think that it is fair that we are not offerd door to door delivery like other cities. so we have to RENT a box for them to put our mail in, then we have to go to the post office and pick it up, it is bad enough that we have to pick up our mail but to have to pay for them to put it in a box? I don't understand this. How can people in other cities get their mail delivered right to their door and not pay for anything?

As a result of this unfairness, there are many seniors that have a hard time getting their mail as many of them don't or can't drive and the post office is a distance from some of their homes and walking to the post office is hard on my legs sometimes as I have osteoarthritis in both of my knees, so sometimes I need to drive over to the post office which costs me again as I use gas when I use the car.

The carrier states that he cannot put mail into my box because a car is blocking his way. That is bull. I have not received mail in 5 weeks.

Annette of Revere, MA April 27, 2006

Annette of Revere MA (04/27/06)
I have had a complaint in to the local postal service since December 2005. It seems my mail is being sent back and or being delivered to another address. Names are clearly marked on this 1 family house and still not getting mail. What am I to do? I have called my local Revere office to no avail.

I have missed payments on all my bills and have not received my social security and payroll check. Just today my neighbor next door delivered my husbands paycheck. We are both elderly and have been made sick of the way we have been treated. I have called my local consumer affairs office to place a complaint. Well she told me she would mail out the complaint form 2 weeks ago. I have still not received that.

Michael of Groveton NH (01/08/06)
I had to leave my residence in a hurry for a family situation. It took a little time to resolve the matter (usually deaths do). I had someone collect our mail for us but upon returning home only received one piece of mail. I inquired to the post ofice why we were not getting our mail. The postmaster said she thought we had abandoned the house and that it was protocall afer ten days that all mail be returned, we live right behind the post office. Lights were left on and cars parked in the driveway. I was dumbfounded by the mess I had to come home to.

Bills returned to sender, checks from receivables returned to sender. I spent days trying to get everything straightened out.
